6. what unconventional superpower would you like to have? (ie no flying or super strength)
“Well, all things considered, is the ability to take away and give hangovers unusual enough? Because I know a few lightweights that’d absolutely benefit from that power—myself included. Oh, that and can you imagine just getting an enormous hangover during a sword fight, because I can and I could almost smell the victory and upchuck.”
9. in your mind, what is your happy place?
“There—well, during a summer, a real shit summer, Dante took me to a nice mall with his fancy getup. I was in a funk because of some stuff with the neighborhood kids, so he dragged me out of my room and into the car, which he could barely drive himself. Mom was off doing some stuff in the hospital, something real serious, so she gave Dante some cash for lunch and dinner so we wouldn’t starve to death when she was gone. I love the man, but he can’t cook at all. He took me to an arcade first; DDR was a thing, and shoot-em-ups, and stuff. Then, he made me get a wool sweater, which was never going to be cool, ever. Afterwards, we ate some nice food at the court, laughing and sending mom pics over text.”
“We spent all day at that mall. I’d never admit it to the guy, but that’s my happy place. My mom, in spirit and my big brother close by. Some days I miss them. I make promises to go back, but I don’t think I might. Better not to make any at all.”
15. are you superstitious?
“Oh, dude. No. Well, sort of? Comes with the territory of being a demigod, I think? Paying heed to all of the mystical mumbo-jumbo that everyone always talks about; you never know which god you’re going to offend if you step on a river or something. Man, you don’t mess with the gods, and I’ve seen enough unlucky demigods in the path of some messed up curses.”
27. what do you hate the most?
“Oh gods, uh. Shit—well, I don’t know. Myself. Easy answer, but you know, ‘s true. I’m sort of a ways away from the other thirteen, so I guess I hate the fucking way I don’t measure up in terms of skill or experience. Gotta, well, I gotta work on that.”
