I. Introduction
In this informational post, I'll be explaining telekinetic "magic". What it is, how it works and what types exist. I've noticed the lack of real telekinesis posts, and it's irritated me a ton. So here's something real beginners can work off of.
II. What is kinesis?
The word kinesis originates from the Greek word of the same name, meaning movement or motion. Practicing kinesis entails a person who practices motion of a set element or thing. Telekinesis is the most common example of this. Telekinesis is an umbrella term that means moving things only using your mind.
III. What are the types?
Here's all the common kinesis types. These are not all the kinesis types, but they are the most well known.
Biokinesis (controling living tissue) , Chronokinesis (controling time)
For example, I practice both Aerokinises and Pyrokinises. Which means I control wind and fire. Another example would be Mono from Little Nightmares 2, he controls TV's and static, which is Electrokinesis.
IV. How do I find out which one I am? How does this work?
Firstly, figure what you're drawn to. Is it light? Or water? Do you want to brush up on time control? Maybe you just want to practice moving objects.
Second, practice, try it out, always always practice. Practice consistently, if you no longer feel drawn to one, try another. Be CONSISTENT! Magic doesn't happen overnight... technically. Always practice, practice as much as you want, maybe one day you're not feeling it, that's alright, practice the next day. Do what you can.
Third, transfer to bigger things. Instead of moving things like paper or pens, try books. Instead of moving wind in a patch of grass, try a whole field.
Fourth, congrats, by this time you've mastered the art of movement!
Never give up practices. They take time to learn and even more time to master. So don't give up!
do you think cleo can feel heartbeats now? and if she can, is it when she wants to, or all of the time?
like she mentioned being able to feel miriam's blood in s1 and she's got a massive power upgrade since then, going from water powers to atmospheric
she also figured out her powers by exploding the hydrant, so i wonder if she could just feel whatever water's in her vicinity?
maybe emma and rikki can feel the sudden temperature change in the air and know when a storm's going to come. that'd be pretty useful for them actually
maybe bella can sense earthquakes and feel the structural integrity of a building
My name is Zagreus Nyx, and I'm a mage. My gifts are mostly in the "storm" category, but my gifts extent to the rest of the natural world, and I'm rather attuned to spirits and minds as well.
I know we're in the age of AI, but the attached video is real. It was recorded April 10th, 2025, and only the beginning (Where I walked away from the camera, and messed up the first couple bolts from stage fright) and the end (Where I walked back to the camera and tripped over the Disney joke I was trying to set up with that cloud shape there) have been cut or changed whatsoever. No other editing has been done to this video; I was just messing around with a distant storm one evening as I enjoy doing to pass time, and decided to record myself for once, so. My phone was just lazily propped on a rusty folding chair.
That said, I'm not just coming here to make wild claims about magic being real, show you one grainy video, and then provide no further explanation while I vanish into the night. I'm actually here to find people anxious to disprove the above video, in a way. This is something I've been able to do since I was little, and while I understand it very well from the spiritual side of things, I've devoted a large portion of my life to trying to figure out how, on a scientific level, I am able to do the things I can do.
Should the science side of tumblr care to join me in this endeavor, I'd be delighted, as I want to run tests and find empirical data, figure out *exactly* what is going on. I just lack the education and equipment needed to do all that sort of thing, and would ADORE collaborating with others for the purpose of figuring out what in the world is going on with me and my weird abilities. Even if you can't help me directly, please reblog to spread this to those who can, I'm all but begging you.
Aerokinesis is the power to create, shape and manipulate air. This includes atmospheric gases and various compounds (e.g. oxygen and nitrogen) as well as being able to create gentle breezes, gale force winds, tornadoes and even hurricanes. Since air cannot be seen by conventional methods, neither can the attacks and derivatives formed by and from it, making it an invisible and versatile weapon that is very difficult to block and dodge. Just like the power of atmokinesis, this power can also cause catastrophic weather events (related to air) if the wielder cannot control their emotions.
my name is tier and that is all you need to know about me for now. I've been struggling; alone, questions left without answers, weak and helpless. Me? I'm a newbie magical girl. I don't want to be so negative for a first post but im afraid ive been left with no choice.
For years I've been alone wandering with the burdens of my abilities. Hell, it took me so long to even find this community. I thought it was stupid and childish at first but it does truly inspire me to see those with powers like me.
My only problem...
my powers haven't manifested.
therefore not only am i weak; i exist on this earth in a mortal body without abilities, intelligence, or the ability to carry out my magical duties.
Its so bad that I'm unsure what my true abilities even are.
I've heard my grandmother comes from a small village in Greece of the wind spirits or gods or deities or something. Whatever the case it has to do with wind. Any who, through a miracle i came across the act of telekinesis. Along with that; aerokinesis. The ability to manipulate wind. From what I've heard being in the kinetic community for a while, wind/aerokinesis is extremely easy. Sheer luck? I think not.
While Im aware it could be my mind forcing me to believe that I'm not just some talentless being who stumbled upon a small community and got lucky I don't think that's the case.
Whenever I practice my wind manipulation, it feels as if I'm calling on the wind spirits powers or abilities? Also, funny story. I visited Greece once however my aunt who was disliked by most of my family on that side visited and I noticed as soon as she arrived it grew more and more windy until it was really bad. Wind wasn't really common in this place.
I just wish there'd be a way to train my abilities effectively. I know there's no way to just instantly get strong. I know I much train. I'm thinking about looking into the astral realm as my body may have better access to magic there.
That's really all for now. I hope I can get some guidance from other magical girls alike. goodbye!!
hello @thepenultimateword and welcome to your un-secret not-santa makeup snippet! I hope you enjoy <3
your prompt was: a Superhero x rookie villain snippet where the superhero is really powerful and they give off dangerous vibes to their enemies. Like maybe the civilian world loves them, but they make the villain world quake. So lil villain’s maybe a little in over their head
-----
“You’ve been very brave,” Superhero murmured. “So very brave, to face off against me. But it’s over now. You can rest.”
Villain stumbled to their feet, yanking at the power dampening bracelet clamped around their wrist. It wouldn’t come off, it wouldn’t come off, they had to get it off, they had to, they had- “It’s not over,” they insisted. “It never will be. I’ll keep fighting until-”
“Until what?” Superhero enquired idly, head cocked like an inquisitive bird of prey. “Until I defeat you? Knock you unconscious? Imprison you? I promise, it would be better to surrender now.”
“Never,” they spat back, fingernails bleeding as they scratched at the cuff. Maybe if they found a seam, or hit it hard enough- “Surrender is for cowards and weaklings. I’m neither.”
“True,” Superhero agreed genially. “Cowards don’t attend fights they were always going to lose. Weaklings don’t hang on this long. But plenty of other people surrender: wise men, good soldiers, those who want to live to fight another day. There’s no shame in it.”
There was all the shame in the world in surrendering. How did someone as powerful as Superhero not understand that? Probably because she’d never had to surrender in her all-powerful life. Villain tried to fit their sleeve under the cuff, block the contact with their skin, to no avail. “That’s false logic; you can’t trick me that easily.”
“Trick? No. I was actually hoping to negotiate.”
“Now I’m in a perceived position of weakness?” they snapped, heat scorching their cheeks. “As if.”
Superhero swept forward. Six foot tall and dressed in spotless white, she was ethereal, otherworldly. Terrifying. “You were always in a position of weakness,” she said, soft as falling feathers, “but now you are forced to recognise it.”
Her words burned. “I am not,” Villain snarled. “I won’t. If it wasn’t for this stupid bracelet-”
“You would lose anyway. You were already losing.”
Villain growled at her, wordless in their fury. “Never. The moment I get this off-”
“You won’t-”
“The moment I get it off, I’ll destroy you. You don’t even have any powers: you’re nothing.” They slammed the bracelet against their other hand, their knee, the floor, the nearest wall. Not even a dint. Their heart raced ever faster. “I can control the wind, the very air itself. What can you do?”
“Beat you,” she replied. “Win. With ease. Like always.” Superhero’s smile was so soft and sweet that it verged on motherly. “I don’t need powers to achieve victory, and I never have. That’s so often the mistake you new villains make. You think that if you can overcome civilians, police officers, soldiers, that you can defeat me just as easily.”
“I will,” Villain insisted. “I will.”
"You won't." Her cape fluttered at her heels as she stalked closer. And closer, and closer. "Allow me to demonstrate."
Villain couldn't scramble away fast enough. Superhero moved like a striking snake, snapping across the space between them. Her fist struck their stomach, their chin, and their cheek hard enough to slice their teeth across their tongue. Villain hit the floor hard, gasping for breath, mouth filling with blood. They spat crimson all over her perfect white shoes.
"Rude," Superhero said calmly. "But I won't hold it against you. Defeat can be very distressing."
Rage screeched through them, turning the last of their cool into embers and ash. They wanted to choke the air from her lungs, pop her eyeballs from her skull, deprive her and her damn city of oxygen until she came crawling on her knees to get it back.
Villain launched themself at her with an incoherent wail. Superhero caught them at arm's length, her forearm braced across their chest and her other hand around their throat. "You're going to get yourself hurt," she admonished. "I didn't want to take you in unconscious, but you give me no choice."
Her hand tightened around their throat. Villain's eyes went wide. How many people had they choked- this shouldn't be happening, not to them- They slammed their fists into her arm, but Superhero didn’t shift, didn’t even flinch. She was unmovable, unbreakable. They couldn’t escape her grip, couldn’t writhe free, couldn’t breathe. Now they understood why their targets never thought their way out of this—it was impossible, but they had to think, had to-
“Relax,” Superhero murmured. “Let the darkness take you.”
No no no no no, no way in hell, they had to- to get the cuff off. Villain dropped their hand to slap limply against Superhero’s side. They just had to- just had to find-
Beep went the electronic cuff key in Superhero’s belt. Clang went the inhibitor cuff as it hit the floor.
Villain grinned as oxygen flooded their lungs and air curled around their fingertips. They hadn’t lost yet. They weren’t going to lose now. Superhero's eyes narrowed and her hand closed tighter, but it was too late.
They snatched up half the air in the room, compressed it, and slammed the ball into Superhero's chest. Villain watched her fly across the room with burning satisfaction, and settled into a fighting stance, wind curling around their bruised neck like a scarf. She wasn't going to take their powers twice—she wasn't going to get that close to beating them ever again. No more toying, no more underestimating. Only victory.
