Gazing deep into a Septarian geode.. This one is now available for adoption here.
All of these stones were actually formed about 50-70 million years ago in the Crustaceous Period. The sea level was much higher back then, and there were tons of volcanic eruptions. All the decomposing sediment drifted to the bottom of the ocean floor and formed nodules, or balls, of mud. As the sea receded these mud balls began to dry out and crack. Calcite and other minerals grew in the cracks forming the pretty gold, whites, browns, and blacks in these crazy stones.
Septarian is known as a concretion stone. This means that it is believed to possess protective and grounding properties. It's definitely a very calming stone. Something about wearing one of these just seems to settle, calm, and relax the mind and body.
It also increases feelings of general well-being. When held or worn, it exudes a very loving, reassuring, and peaceful energy. It's definitely a great stone to keep around!
