Autumn Baking - Sweet Treats

The Last Kingdom Master List

Autumn Baking, all of the fresh flavours that only come around once a year. The warm, rich, delicious aromas that can only be found during the autumn months making these sweet treats even more delightful.

Baking can be an excellent way to unwind, a rewarding hobby, or even a great way to share your love with family and friends. Well that is...if you're any good at it. Not everyone is a master baker...

Uhtred

He would rather buy the pre-made mixes, add water and be done

No work, no fuss – all the reward!

He adores anything sweet. The sweeter the better

Baking? Oh he's just here to sample everything

He takes it extremely serious – nobody is allowed in the kitchen when he is working his magic

Has a coveted baking set that he was gifted as a child and refuses to even let anybody look at it

Loves that Finan is willing to taste test anything – anything!

Top five Aldhelm x Aethelflaed scenes! 💖 (also merry Christmas! ✨)

Ahh thank you!! Merry Christmas to you too!! <3 Ok, in chronological order:

1. An obvious choice, but the start of #knifekink and also the start of me lowkey shipping them...because....reasons. It’s just a great scene start to finish between his lurking and dramatics and her immediately grabbing her sword when he releases her and remaining suspicious but intrigued (I mean...mood, am I right?). 

2. Another obvious choice, but COME ON everything about this scene is PURE GOLD (”I was briefly thinking, Lord, that you too look like a Dane”... “Another time, perhaps”... “Not quite, Lady” AHHHHHHHH). Shoutout to Aethelred leaving frame because he is another reason I love this scene. 

3. It would be akin to blasphemy were I to leave this scene off my list. It literally has everything. I’m pretty sure I shipped Aldhelm more with Aethelred until this point during my first watch through. And while I still do ship them, Aldhelm and Aethelflaed clearly have my entire heart now. 

4. #knifekink part...5, if I’m counting correctly. This scene is pure poetic cinema and I love everything about it. Whatever I am doing on the outside, on the inside I am screaming about this. I have watched it a thousand times and I will watch it a thousand more. 

5. THISSSS SCENE!!! Everything about them on the road together in 4b makes me rend my garments in my madness (like....how are there not a million fics about this??), but this particular bit really captures how well they understand each other, the humor they share (always dark as fuck!!), and the parallel body language throughout this entire arc is *chef’s kiss.*

Runners up (you knew this was coming):

The way he looks at her here!! The way she’s an absolute BAMF WARRIOR QUEEN!! I look at her this way too!! 

He is waiting to rescue her help her rescue herself with a LITERAL WHITE HORSE. What am I supposed to do with that, writers? HUH??

And last, this bit when they’re hiding on the road is another of my faves, the way he rushes headlong into danger (well...Sihtric), and she tries to stop him but she CAN’T because that’s what he does and she knows that (”I understand, Lady”), but she still has to try. 

I have a lot of Aldflaed feelings, thank you for letting me yell about them!
