Fellow followers, the day has finally come, even if it hasn't been too long since I've first spoken of him. I've finally finished a design for Psycha, my Rivals/Lovers of Aether self-insert!
... more specifically, his Lovers of Aether design.
I had a sketch going of his RoA design (Which is even in the lineart stage right now), but there's something about it that didn't quite sit right with me. I think it's because I drew him in a relatively lax pose for the sake of seeing what did and didn't work in his design. I wouldn't want to absolutely nail a pose (Fat chance of that ever happening lol) and then have second thoughts about a certain aspect of the design. Perhaps once I get his RoA design all thought out, I can draw him in actiony side-profile pose like how the Rivals’ character select portraits are.
However, I have had a clear vision of how I wanted his LoA design to look ever since I first conceived his name- as I put it in that post's tags, he is a 'closeted nerd' type of character, so I knew up front that he would probably dress like how I would, being a self-insert, after all. So, after doodling a test sketch of him on my phone, which then led to a more detailed paper sketch...
Psycha was brought to fruition!
I mentioned in his debut post that he is a sheep (Which hopefully is obvious enough by his floof and his 4′10″ stature), which I felt would be an appropriate animal to stylize myself after because of how meek and soft they are. He even has his keepsake amulet! As for his personality, Psycha is very sheepish (Comedy +100) but is also noteworthy for being welcoming toward anyone he deems trustworthy. He also is deeply smitten with Clairen, but would sooner give a class presentation in front of the entirety of Aether High than attempt to confess his feelings for her to her face, even if she is one of the few that he trusts. I was going to simply upload Psycha’s art with a transparent background, but then I figured it would be cool if I went ahead and uploaded it in a style similar to @elranno’s character art lineup for Lovers of Aether, which was easier said than done (As far as I’m aware, a dormant version of LoA’s classroom background does not exist on Google, and I had to recreate the font used in the image from scratch at is was a custom font created by LoA’s developers), but I think the recreation I managed to create is quite nice! I had a lot of fun drawing this! Hopefully you enjoy this artwork of Psycha, as I’m aiming to upload another post regarding him very soon!
