Yi IK is a Fable Tale au lore:IK and Zhao live in a small village called Jade River Village, where is close to the city kingdom near by.Zhao is a well known apothecary in the village, able to make medicine for his neighbors who re-paid him with money or food, but also sometimes called he's also called the Potioneer: with sometimes his teas has magical effects.But that's expected when his Magical Talent is making teas with magical effects.IK is just a normal girl, with some mommy issues, she's a bit more vocal about her opinions. She makes friends with some of the children in Jade River Village. IK doesn't talk about her Magical Talent because Zhao is afraid people would take advantage of her ability. But IK doesn't mind, she honestly doesn't care and believes bad karma would get them.

In my opinion, I feel like IK wouldn't be afraid of the OB characters because of them being Demons, Angels, and Reapers (there's one in Fable Tale) because she's probably used of the uncanny valley of the Fey folk who can look eldritch, and act inhumane.

love characters who are completely unfazed by being pulled into a weird fantasy world because their world is equally weird

it would also be fun if the fey folk of fable tale are generally significantly MORE weird than the demons and angels, so when diavolo introduces them she's just staring at him like. is that a joke? where are your ten eyes? your billion teeth? (spitballing here since i don't know what your vision for the fey folk is lol)

oh also i recall that ik's magic talent was finding valuable things and my mind has kind of stuck on the word 'lucky'... levi's tail just misses her when he goes berserk after the quiz, diavolo arrives right before lucifer can attack her in the underground tomb, and ik just kinda assumes this is part of her magical ability when it's really just pure actual luck. could end up being a fun fatal flaw that catches up with her when it comes to belphie/sonno arc

Okay so. I'm here to explain about the Fey Folk in how I imagine them.

So the Fey folk are a diverse group of magical spirits, think of Elves, Pixies, Sprites, Goblins, Hobgoblins, Dwarfs, etc. So they can be the most beautiful and the most terrifying folks, but their equally dangerous as they are in their folklore. Majority of the fey population live in the Fey Wilderness, with many different environments, monarchies and traditions, but there's some who live outside of the Fey Wilderness. Also fey folk don't die, while their physical forms can be gone, their spirits can still live on and roam the natural world and the spirit world.

While they have different rulers, all fey respect THE Queen and King of Fairies: Titania and Oberon, their essential primordial nature spirits who are akin like gods. They live in a large pocket dimension where their glamorous castle is there. And well their HUGE. With Titania being taller than Oberon. So their castle makes the tallest tower look small in comparison.

Hopes this help, about my interpretation of the Fey Folk!

ooh, very cool! love me an ancient primordial ruler whose existence outspans their entire people's history. there's just something so fun about massive discrepancies between life timescales (you could have gleaned this opinion of mine from much of the way i write devildom lore lol)

Fun little idea for Fable Tale IK au.

IK becomes a Witch when a Cat Sith suddenly chosen her because she gave him good warm blankets on a cold winter day and so Xuě Sī (Silversilk, and a name Zhao and IK gave him), feeling gratitude for IK decides trains IK into Witchcraft and becoming her familiar and mentor.

Xuě Sī is a Cat Sith which is a fey cat's that were believed to steal the souls of the recently deceased that hadn't gone to the land of the dead. This would happen by a cat-sìth crossing over a new dead body. Before morgues were common, these bodies were kept in a room in the home or in the barn until the body could be buried so people could pay their respects to the body.

To avoid the soul being taken during this period, people would stay to watch the body in a vigil called the Late Wake or Fèill Fhadalach in Irish Gaelic. People would distract the cat-sìth away from the body with things like music, games, dance, or catnip. It was also suggested not to light a fire near the body as cat-sìth was attracted to the heat.Around Samhain (October 31st–November 1st), it was custom to leave out a saucer of milk for them. If you did, your household would receive good luck for the year.If you didn't, the cat-sìth would return the favor and dry up the milk of the house's cows.

Xuě Sī takes a form of a Linqing Lion Cat, with silvery white fluffy fur, molten golden eye on his right eye and pure slivery eye on his left eye; mischievous at heart like his fey kin, who loves to indulge in warm fuzzy blankets and delicious milk with a side of any unfortunate sea critter. He is very old, he remembers quite fondly tricking demons and angels into his schemes when he was a kitten, especially when using one of them as nail file, especially with using demon's skin, horns, and wings, as well angel's faces, eyes, wings, and sometimes their halos. (He's talking about the eldritch uncanny kind, not Michelangelo-looking statue's with human bodies, though some do look like that, but almost uncanny like.)

Though he grew tired of their constant nagging about their correct creed, which honestly their courts are exhausting to be in, especially angels, and the young angel and demon brats. He has no time for children whining, but IK is the exception of this rule, she gave him warm fuzzy blankets! And besides, she makes a great witch in the future, especially since her father is knowledgeable about herbs, and ways of making tea-potions.

Witchcraft: (in my fantasy series) A earthbound magical formulaic where practioners use natural realm as their catalyst. But this also gives them connection with the darkness as the underground depths of the earth has nether-like power.

ooh this is some lovely worldbuilding, i like it very much! i wonder, since zhao is an apothecary (iirc) and deals with herbs, he might be involved in helping bereaved locals with death rites including offerings for the cat-sith - and in a roundabout way this leads to ik meeting xuě sī

ik is like :) Fluffy cat friend, while xuě sī stares through your soul with the most unnerving piercing eyes you've ever seen (one eye has seen the day of your death and the other has seen the manner)

it would be funny if one of the demons had had run-ins with xuě sī specifically. like ik arrives in the devildom with her best cat-sith friend and barbatos takes one look at it and immediately walks out the room because he is not dealing with that nonsense again

Got more Fable Tale lore.

So Fable Tale takes place in a modern era, so there's modern technologies, with a fairy tale flare. Their technology is called Reflective Tech: Which is a formed of mirror magic, that is able to do what the internet does, like calling, videos, taking pictures, and social media sites. The Reflective Phone works well when the world and environment has magic, but it would slow down when there's no magic.

It be funny if IK RP still works in Devildom, but she can't call or text people, only using it for pictures or videos, and maybe saved things she has in her phone.

oh, fun! i guess it would sort of depend what general life would look like for her in this universe, but it'd be funny if she had things in her camera roll that are act as an effective a one-two punch of existential crises to a demon or something

that or it's just full of pictures of street cats and fat little finches and satan will not let her have it back for like two hours after she first lets him have a look at them

OKAY I feel creative with combining my personal project: Fable Tale Chronicles, which is a story about a 14 year old boy named Ian Riordan, who fell into a hollow tree to a magic school called Evermora Academy, where they teach the children of famous fairytale characters to follow their "Fate" as their parents, and their parents before them. This world he's now stranded is called Fable Tale: A world full of fairytales (the traditional kind not the D!sney-kind), plays, poems, nursery rythmes, legends, and folkloric creatures. Majority of the world is full of "Fateless" folk, but sometimes two "Fateless" folk can pop out a "Fated" child.

It would be cool to see IK coming from Fable Tale, and since its a world full of magic, I imagine she'll get the Magic Talent to find the most valuable item in the most unexpected places. Example: she finds a simple rock, until she accidentally drops it, tadaa! Is a geo!

Or

Zhao with toddler IK, and his Magical Talent is to make tea with magical effects; each ingredients has a different effect from their symbolism and taste, almost like a potion, but is tea making. And little toddler IK being the most luckiest toddler by finding valuable things out of nowhere.

You can choose which one you prefer.

whoaaa this is super cool! i always love when stories play with fairy tales, there's so many ways to do it

i like both of your proposals!! i'm especially endeared by the idea of a little ik whose special power is how lucky she is. there is so much beautiful potential specifically with mammon, both in terms of mischief and cute big brother stuff. she may be a treasure magnet but most importantly, she's also his favourite lucky star

and i wonder how far the effects of zhao's brews could go? my immediate thoughts are of medical applications - e.g. he can make a miracle brew that perfectly clears satan's headache, and mild stuffy nose, and also somehow that weird ache in his left calf

there's gotta be a LOT of trial and error that goes into that though. he has a massive compendium of ingredients, synergies, side-effects, etc., attempts at quantifying the pattern of effects... the file is at least 2000 pages and counting, and he drops it every time he tries to carry it places. solomon is very interested in this file but he cannot read zhao's handwriting at all

oohh wait. so magic is kind of tricksy right. if ik's special talent is "finding the most valuable thing in the most unexpected place", would belphie meet that criteria? it wouldn't really change much, since she's going find him anyway, but it's a fun little thing to think about. or maybe ik showing up at the attic earlier than expected would change things enough for belphie's arc to take a completely different trajectory...

lucifer 'borrows' ik's special talent to get really good deals at the supermarket and asmo 'borrows' it to find really cute clothes at the thrift shop ('borrow' here means they bring ik shopping and wait for her to wander off)
