Attack hugging them
The house was dimly lit, something that was very unusual when Lily was at home. She seemed much more inclined to have some form of illumination, even if it was only a simple spell for starlight. Only the low spread of yellow light from the range hood above his stove. Was she not at home?
“Lily?” he called quietly into the bedroom.
Suddenly, he felt the full weight of the petite woman as she darted down from above and snagged her arms around his chest, toppling the now unbalanced man to the floor with a flourish of flying cape. She leaned in and gave him a small kiss on his hooked nose.
“How long were you sitting on the bookshelf waiting to pounce me?” he inquired from his defeated position.
“I’ve been up there for an hour, Severus. My legs are asleep. Maybe send a note if you’re going to be late for dinner.” she scoffed.
Falling asleep on or next to them
The snake bite on his neck had nearly healed in its entirety. His splinched hand could easily grip drinking glasses and books. Recovery had come much more swiftly with Lily working as his outpatient nurse, and Severus was thankful for her calming presence as he pieced the tattered remains of his life back together post-war. For the last several evenings, they’d sat together on the sofa to read into the wee hours, and it seemed that Lily was avoiding her bed in the guest room with a marked determination. She always slept on the sofa, if at all. The night terrors seemed to keep any true rest at bay for her.
He was reading aloud to her this evening, idly toying with a length of her crimson hair about twenty minutes or so into Cyrano de Bergerac, when her comfortable leaning turned into a soft slump against him. He arched a dark brow, but decided ultimately to remain entirely still and let her rest that way as long as she was able.
If only his arm hadn’t fallen asleep under her.
Giving them the best back massage they’ve ever had
Grading papers during finals always called for late nights hunched over his desk. Every once in a while he would jolt and find that he’d dozed off on the crook of his arm, at which point he would sit up, roll his shoulders, and get back to work. There was not enough red ink in the entirety of Hogwarts for how mistaken some of these students were in regards to defending against damn near everything. It was clear who’d been paying attention and who was disregarding instructions.
A low groan of annoyance soon turned to one of soothed pleasure as he felt a pair of warm hands kneading over his cramped and aching back. Soft endearments were whispered into his ear as knuckles, fingers, and palms worked to ease the many knots twisting into Severus’ muscles. He nearly melted right out of his chair. At Lily’s urging, he agreed to come to bed and lie belly-down to allow a bit of relaxation, with the assurance that he would be able to return the favor. It was a difficult thing to retain consciousness when his anger cleared away into contentment by the firm sweep of her fingers, but after ten minutes, he rolled over and playfully pushed Lily off.
Severus gently moved her long hair aside and eased her to lay on a pillow across his lap. Practiced fingers spread over her back to locate pressure points. Murmured wandless magics spread comfortable tingles through the palms of his hands to bear soft pulses deep into her muscles.
“Are you comfortab… Lily? You’re asleep.”
Holding their hand for the first time
A small flicker of shock moved through his thin frame as Severus looked down and then immediately back up so as not to draw attention to the situation. How long had they been holding hands? A small blotch of color touched his sallow cheeks, which he quickly tried to abate. He remembered helping her down the steep steps of the cafe, not wanting her to trip in her high heels. Had he forgotten to let go? Probably. That had to be it. But… she didn’t correct it and let go. In fact, her fingers were laced into his. Should he casually let go and pretend it hadn’t happened? No… no. This was nice. They’d held hands plenty of times as children, but as adults? This was a first. And he very much enjoyed it.
Hugging them from behind when they weren’t expecting it
Thinking that it would be a lovely surprise to have the kitchen tidy when Lily returned from visiting her son, Severus rolled up the sleeves of his simple black button down shirt and set to filling the sink with soapy water. They were both very neat individuals by nature, so there wasn’t much to do, but she’d been in a rush after baking treats to take to Harry and left the cookware to clean later.
The dishes were spotless, the counter wiped down, and the various ingredients put away. He was just emptying the water from the sink when he noticed two hands, tipped with silver fingernails, snaking their way around his middle in a soft embrace.
“You didn’t have to do that.” Lily commented.
“You aren’t the maid. I can wash dishes from time to time.” Severus scoffed, turning so that he might properly return the hug.
Hugging them way too tightly
“Li-ly… this is… most unpleasant…! Can you… just… AAH!” Severus squawked painfully, then sighed in relief.
There had to be an easier way to crack his back.
Kissing their forehead or cheek
His significant other had been fretting heavily over the idea of meeting her son properly after so many years of being apart. Any time the topic was brought into conversation, it was immediately met with worries over whether or not Harry would even wish her to be a part of his life after he’d endured so many hardships without the love and comfort of a mother to ease his sufferings.
Arranging the surprise meeting had been a risky move, and he knew that he would be in for an earful as soon as the company parted ways. Severus would patiently wait for an emotional lash out with a neutral expression. As much as she would wish to be cross and fussy, he would endure.
But that was not what happened.
“You’re an evil, evil thing, Severus Snape…” Lily frowned… then surprised him with a soft kiss to the forehead. “Thank you… for pushing me.”
Kissing their neck
“I’m asleep.” he mumbled.
“You are not.” Lily scoffed.
“As long as you keep asking me to wear red for New Years, I am asleep.” Severus amended.
“It’s nearly eleven, Sev. If we want to make it for midnight drinks you need to get dressed. It was your idea. I’ll give you extra kisses when the clock strikes tonight…” she chided in a sing-song voice.
“Perhaps I would like kisses now.” he creaked an eye open. “And then I will get dressed in not-red.”
With a cheeky little smirk, Lily lowered her lips to his neck and eased tender kisses all along the curve. He could feel goosebumps rising to the surface when she gave little nips here and there, whispering through her kisses that if he wanted more kisses, he would need to get dressed.
Buttons were fastened so quickly as soon as he rolled off of the sofa..
Kissing them softly on the lips
One hand was held over his face as Lily practically danced around him, wringing her hands and trying to pry his fingers away from his face.
“I didn’t mean to! There was a shadow… and I thought it was a spider… and, oh stars, Sev your face! I’m so sorry!” she squeaked.
“It’s… quite alright. If it bruises, though, I’m telling Minerva that you beat me.” he teased, finally putting his hand down to reveal an angry red swat mark from a rolled up magazine.
Severus was all to keen to let the woman shower him in gentle I’ll-kiss-it-better pecks, the softest of which trailed over his slightly swollen lip.
Playfully whacking them with a pillow
“I’ve bought you a lovely new outfit.” Severus announced. He held up a lovely green dress which had both a window in the chest to show a small bit of cleavage, and a window at the buttocks area.
“SEVERUS SNAPE!” Lily admonished, lifting the nearest sofa pillow and smacking him square in the face.
“Oof! You said you wanted one!” he gasped through the attack.
“I did not! We were joking!” she squealed, face beet red in embarrassment.
Severus caught the pillow up in his hands.
“I’m teasing. I cast an illusion on the fabric. Calm down.” he soothed.
Lily responded by simply swatting him with a second pillow.
Sneaking up behind them and blowing a raspberry on their neck
“Don’t do it.” Severus warned.
He didn’t bother looking up from his book, but he could hear the telltale squeaks of Lily’s muffled giggling. She was not terribly good at being a silent sneak. The sound grew closer.
“Lily.” he stated firmly.
Still the sound persisted. He was not sure what she was planning. It could be anything from an ice cube down his shirt (terrible when you had so many layers of clothing to peel though to get to it!), or some sort of sauce dabbed on his face to kiss away.
He relaxed slightly when he felt her lips press against his pulse and trail kisses down to the crook of his neck… where she promptly blew a very long raspberry, gripping round his shoulders so he couldn’t pull away. Severus winced quickly, but her mouth was already firmly in place.
“Aack! L-Lily! St-! Ohohom… h-how DARE?!” he snorted, finally pulling away and playfully swatting her with his book, color rising to his cheeks. “Ahem. You should run now.”
Surprise kissing them
“Madam.” Severus mumbled through the kiss. “Efxcufe me?”
Somehow, Lily seemed to think that if she cut him off from saying NO, that she would be allowed to bring home a bear cub from the zoo. She was heavily mistaken.
“No meamf NO, Lily.”
Telling them they love them for the first time
What had started as a casual game of questions over drinks had led to the revelation that they’d both had passing thoughts of kissing one another in the duration of their stay together. Then it was a question of nerve and whether or not it would indeed come to pass. It swiftly unfolded into much more. By the end of it they were nestled together under the blankets of the bed in his Slytherin quarters, playfully flicking the chilly condensation of their drinks at one another.
“You just… make me want to hold you, to love you, to not let you go.” she had said.
She wished to? He stared a moment into his glass, lost in thoughts that did little more than trip over one another from the dizzying evening they’d had. The wise thing to do would be to say something equally as vague and endearing. He didn’t want to rush ahead and frighten her with his blooming affections if they surpassed a mere wish to feel more.
“…I love you dearly. I hope you know that.”
Shite. Too much?
Tickling them
As a child, Severus had been quite ticklish, but this had not followed him into adulthood as far as he’d known. However, he would find out that he still possessed a tender spot or two in vulnerable moments with a trusted hand. Most people would not get any sort of reaction if they were bold enough to attempt such a thing… Lily was an exception. Most of his torso had been stripped of sensation through the various trails he’d endured as a half-blooded Death Eater, but Severus and his love had been slowly restoring the ruined nerve endings through a very drawn out and painful process.
It was near on half nine in the morning, and it was his own fault for staying up so late reading. He didn’t care. Lily did not seem content to let him sleep in further. After making the request that he rise several times so the extravagant breakfast she’d prepared would not grow cold, she slipped under the covers with him and drew a warning trail of fingernails over the small of his back. He winced away and whined into the pillow, which did not help his cause in the least. The room was soon filled with muffled baritone laughter and sleepy half-hearted protests as he made poor attempts to protect his ticklish spots with the blankets. The petite woman seemed to know that he was too dazed and drowsy to properly fight back and made every effort to keep him squirming until he’d seen reason. Needless to say, he was soon at the table, trying not to sleep dip into a portion of pancakes lest he incur a second round of WAKE UP, SEV. She would absolutely be gotten back. After a nap.
Waking them up by holding them and playing with their hair
Ever since the day he’d found himself in need of constant occlumency during the first wizarding war, Severus had come to suffer the side effects of chronic dreamless sleep. To keep one’s sanity, one must dream. While he could force it with a potion every now and again, it was a thoroughly unpleasant experience. As much as he could appreciate feeling somewhat rested, sleeping without dreams was in likeness to treading water in a dark well, trying to hold out until consciousness returned. He hated it.
By and by, however, the man had found it less of a terrible ordeal when Lily’s calming presence was beside him. In fact, he’d grown to appreciate sleep because of the added bonus of gentle wake-up calls on the occasions which his lover stirred awake before him. Severus could feel her fingers threaded in his dark hair, carefully manicured nails scratching delicately over his scalp. He felt even breath over his neck and one arm draped over his chest. Ah, yes. This was a lovely way to pull out of a slumber.
“Morning, dearest…” he mumbled happily, eyes still closed to soak in the affection.
