In which Bryan is crying and Addy is five years old.
Warnings: fluff, Addy with a fox, Bryan being adorable, analogies, drugged dreams
Sidenote: short but sweet.
Bryan sniffled as he walked back to his room, wiping his eyes with the back of his hand. He didn't even bother to undress, just fell into his bed with a soft sob. He never expected Nicky to say all those things to him, or for him to say all those things to Nicky. He felt awful. He was sure this time his brother would never even talk to him, he rolled on to his stomach, groaning into his pillow before he started to cry again.
Addy had been asleep for hours, curled up and cuddling his fox and baby blanket in one of Bryan's t-shirts, which was far too long for his tiny frame. When he heard a muffled sob, he woke up and grabbed his items, looking around. He would've known Bryan's voice from a mile away, and crying wasn't much different. He was stabbed with the thought that he had done something, and he fell off of the bed in haste to find out what he had done. He slowly made his way to Bryan's room, clutching his fox and blanket tightly. He quietly pushed the door open, saying in a tiny voice, "B-Bryan?"
Bryan wanted to mumble go away, but he refrained, knowing Addy would probably think he was mad at him, and that was the last thing he needed. It had to have been Addy, he doubted Nicky would have come looking for him. He sighed softly as he rolled over on his side, looking over at Addy standing in the doorway. He was wearing one of his t shirts, and Bryan wondered when the other boy had managed to take it. "Hey."
Addy looked down at himself, turning dark red, "Sorry," he said softly, looking at Bryan's red eyes and knowing it was his fault. "Did-did I do something wrong...?" He was not going to cry, "I-I'm sorry... I promise I didn't me-mean to..." He was quiet, looking at his feet and hugging his things to his chest, apologizing eighty times in his head.
Bryan "What?" Bryan raised his head, pulling himself up in a sitting position. "N-no." Bryan sighed, running his fingers through his hair. "You didn't do anything, Addy. Trust me. It wasn't you." Bryan fell againt the bed again, looking up at the celiling. "I just got into a fight with Nicky, that's all."
Addy nodded, feeling relief wash over him. He walked over and layed down beside him, curling up against him and putting his head on his chest, "I know it was about me," he said quietly, "I ruined your life." He closed his eyes, "Maybe he just needs space..." he shrugged, "My siblings just ignore each other for a week and then suddenly they love each other," he sniffled, "Especially Cece and Calix. They always fight, and then they ignore one another, and then everything's okay again..." He hugged his fox and blanket tighter, "Or maybe I should just go home..."
Bryan "No, Addy. It wasn't about you. Just me and what a shit brother I am." Bryan sighed again, closing his eyes as Addy curled up against him. "Yeah, I dunno about this. I - I think he's really upset this me. I don't know, he probably won't talk to me for a while." Bryan chewed at his lip, opening his eyes to stare at the celing again. "No, stay. Please? I don't think I want to be by myself."
Addy took a deep breath, "Maybe that's better," he said quietly, "Distance makes the heart grow fonder," he whispered, loving how Bryan smelled and how he felt and how he was so soft and so hard all at the same time. "I'll stay if you want me to," he said reluctantly, wondering if it was the right thing to say.
Bryan hummed softly, "Um, I guess so. I'm uh just a little worried though. We've never had a fight this bad." Bryan turns on his side again so he could face Addy, tracing a finger across his cheek. "I would love it if you did stay."
Addy yawned, "One time," he said sleepily, "Cece punched Calix in the nether region," he smiled at the memory, "They didn't talk for two months almost." He didn't open his eyes when Bryan touched his cheek, he just smiled more, "Then I'll stay..." he conceded. He draped his baby blanket between them, "I love you," he said quietly, knowing it was silly and knowing it was true, "More than anything, I love you." He snuggled closer, shivering.
Bryan pursed his lips, watching Addy with a soft smile. "Doesn't sound as bad as me and Nicky but, I appreciate you trying to make me feel better." Bryan laughed softly as Addy draped the lancet over them, smiling at he much of their bodies still needed to covered. "And I love you."
Addy sighed, "Sometimes I like to pretend I'm helpful," he said, only half-joking. He smiled brightly when Bryan said he loved him, "You're crazy," he mumbled, "And you have the cutest laugh." He fell asleep for a second, before waking back up with his eyes still closed. He puckered his lips slightly, "Can Addy has kisses?"
Bryan "Crazy? For what? Loving you?" Bryan sighed. "You're the one who's crazy for loving me Addy." Bryan smiled at Addy's comment about his laugh, watching him as his eyes closed and fell asleep for just second. "Sure, haha." Bryan leaned closer to Addy, kissing him softly before pulling away.
Addy "But lots of people love Bryan," he protested lazily, "Everyone loves Bryan. No one loves Addy," he nodded with his eyes still shut, "Addy is second choice... Bryan is always first." He dozed off again, until Bryan kissed him, and he dissolved into mush, as usual. He had a tiny smile when Bryan pulled away, and he said in his flowing French, "Tu êtes un très bon museau, Monsieur James."
Bryan frowned slightly, watching Addy as he fell asleep. He had no idea why Addy would think so. Not everyone loved Bryan, and he was definitely not always a first choice. The other boy would protest though, and besides he was falling asleep. Bryan kissed his forehead again, before sighing and pulling away, closing his eyes as he tried to fall asleep.
Addy whined when Bryan moved, "Nuuuuu...." he whispered, wonderng if he did something wrong, "Come back.... pwease ... I sowwy..." He wanted to know what he did wrong...
Bryan "Addy? I'm not going anywhere. I'm right here." Bryan bit his lip. Addy was acting so out of place he wasn't sure if he was just extremely tired or something else. "Let's go to sleep baby."
Addy drifted off again, "Sleep," he whispered, "Addy likes when you call him baby," he yawned, "Makes it seem like we're a couple." His bleary mind wasn't filtering anything anymore, and he didn't even realize that he had just admitted to the one thing that had been bothering him for a while and the one thing he was most afraid to say. He was just too sleepy to care.
Bryan "I like calling you baby." Bryan chuckled, sighing as he moved closer to Addy. "I thought we were a couple."
Addy "You never said we were," his tired mind recalled, "You make the rules, I float along. I am the graceful butterfly and you are the sturdy ground," he was just spouting nonsense by now, "Duncan is the frog that tried to eat the butterfly, and when the butterfly fell, the ground was there to catch it. Or splatter it into a million pieces. Noah is the tree. Nicky is the water, flowing and fickle and able to break down the strongest. Jensen is a fish."
Bryan "Well, I did ask you out on a date, silly. I think thats on the list of things couples do." Bryan giggled, listening to Addy speak. He honestly had no idea what he was talking about. "I love you you love me. We're together. There, I've said it. Now sleep."
Addy smiled, "We're together," he whispered in disbelief, falling asleep as soon as Bryan said to, drifting into a butterfly-frog-fish-tree-ground-water infused dream that probably would've been more appropriate for a drug addict.
