The Capital sprawled in front of her, as she stepped off the train with Daniil. She was impressed by how big and tall all of the buildings were here.
A man in a white uniform greeted them, and she let Daniil handle the conversation- most of it was instructions on how to handle the deadly things in the car as well as the equipment. Valets would deliver them appropriately.
The sheer size of everything- buildings that dwarfed the Termitary, was enough to stun her into silence. She stood very close by, remembering his advice that she’d get lost very, very easily.
She couldn’t conceptualize it easily in the Town, but now that they were here, she felt that she’d be swallowed whole if she strayed too far.
As overwhelming as it was to disembark, she still had enough sense to keep her wits about her, and keep pace with Daniil as they were escorted to her Aunt Gurina’s house.
Evidence of fighting was marked everywhere. There were soldiers in white blockading certain streets, there was soot in the air and the smell of sulfur, gunpowder lingering. Some buildings had char and ash around them, and it was recent.
Despite all that, they were still able to be chauffeured by a motor car to Gurina’s estate.
It was only a few minutes of driving. Clara counted only three streets before they were at the door of an estate that was fairly large, by Clara’s reckoning. It had turrets and spirals, and looked to be situated in front of a massive park.
She was too tired to note anything else other than the woman that came to the door to greet them, called Daniil “Sasha” and allowed them inside while the valets unloaded their luggage.
She wasn’t a tall woman, only barely taller than Clara, and shared many features with Saburov. Mainly the angular features on a very round face, dark hair that’s graying, bright blue eyes, and deep laugh lines.
There’s only a cursory greeting before Gurina offers them rest, which Clara is more than happy to take her up on.
