Barricaded in the Bathroom || Sanford, Abril, and Kyrie
Sanford was dressed in his finest clothing; it was not anything luxurious, just a simple suit, but it was all he owned. He was working his way away from the main chamber of the ballroom, towards the bathrooms. The brunet thought he saw Jack heading towards the restrooms and wondered how the boy was doing after their talk. Seeing how Jack was doing was one of the only reasons that he actually came to this ball. It was not really his scene.
Just before he reached the men’s room, Sanford felt noticeable shaking followed by a scream from behind the closed women’s bathroom door. Acting on his intrinsic need to help others, he shakily burst into the bathroom where he would normally never venture. His steps were uneasy, sloppy, from the effect of the shaking earth.
Once inside the bathroom, with two other girls, everything seemed to get progressively worse. There was a strong, thunder clapping noise, something Sanford might associate with a car accident. The tiled floor cracked and shattered as the floor beneath him seemed to roll. The brunet fell forward to his knees at the unbalance.
Sanford looked up at the ceiling in worry, dust rained into the air of the bathroom followed by the sound of surging water. All Sanford could do in the moment was wonder whether the ground would split open beneath him and swallow him whole, or if the building would cave in and kill him first. A strange, eerie creaking emitted from the doorway behind him and Sanford threw a worried glace over his shoulder, still bracing himself on his hands and knees.
Everything in the room was shaking, the floor was shrieking under the stress of the earthquake; by this point, Sanford acknowledged what was happening as an earthquake. The pounding of the earth and building got weaker and weaker – but not the pounding of his heart. And if he thought his heart was racing before, the bathroom was plunged into darkness and the brunet truly felt fear take hold.
