AFRICA | Basketry | Flat ‘plateau’ baskets | Niger

Baskets of palm fibre made by a collective of Tuareg-Berber women near Agadez. The town lies in the Sahara in northern Niger and was founded in the fourteenth century. An important Tuareg trading post, Agadez today still sees the arrival of caravans bringing salt from the desert in the east. Photo ©afrikani
