#StoriesBehindDoors, The #Gambia - In remembrance of the victims, and survivors of a massacre: Behind every door there is a story to be heard… the doorway to A.K.J.’s home. "As I lay wounded, hoping that someone would come and help me, on the ground around me I could see 4 or 5 bodies... they were not moving." Abdou Karim Jammeh was shot in the leg by Gambian security forces when he took part in a peaceful student protest in April 2000. He told us how they opened fire when he and his fellow students were less than 100 meters away. Fortunately, for him, the Red Cross came to his aid. A.K.J. was In hospital for 4 months. Twenty years on, he still walks with the aid of a stick. _ Image ©Helen Jones-Florio - working on our longterm series, ‘Gambia - victims, and resisters’ with @jasonflorio . . . . #jammeh2justice#africandoors#westAfrica #Gambia #victimsofJammeh #everydayafrica#helenjonesflorio #TRRCGambia #doorshiding#thedoorhunter#urbanafrica #storiesbehinddoorsgambia #doors_outdoor #humanrightsviolations #theDoorHunter #everydayGambia #curtainspoetry #neveragaingambia\ (at The Gambia) https://www.instagram.com/p/B-1wzSdnoNd/?igshid=eg554d04ogkw
