Rise and shine, my Loves 🖤 we’re now mid-way through the first Afrikan High Tea mentorship program. This means it’s time to recruit 4 more to join the #AfrikanHighTea organising team who will start to pass the baton over to you. We’re specifically looking to add social media managers, front of house (ticketing and tea-fruit bar) and a documentary photographer/videographer (with free access to your own equipment) to augment the team. If you perform or write poetry, story or comedy, now is also a good time to apply. First step? Email [email protected] by 1 June 2019 and tell me a bit about yourself and what skills you bring with examples of your best work to date. You can write or send it as a brief 5 minute video or audio note. I’m so excited to bring my poem ‘Hair’ to @next_wave 2018, for a collaboration with visual artist @robertajoyrich whose exhibition ‘M/Otherland’ opens today @artshouse. Here’s to showing love and respect for First Nations and producing complex and nuanced narratives about the African diaspora told by the African diaspora.
