@Afropunk #2018 is fast approaching! A #Afropunk2017 #throwback w @timokamura Sometimes you just have to #DOit ! It starts with a #vision or not but God gives you an #opportunity you pursue it and many times Just as you nearing the #goal #opposition comes! Give up? NO! NEVER! On the contrary Keep Calm Keep the #Faith PUSH THROUGH 👊🏽💥 During the yr prior #AfropunkFest co-founder the wonderful @jocelynacooper (we are both on the @mocada_museum gala host committee as well) & I had spoken about getting more #art to the festival so I presented the idea to my good friend #TimOkamura w whom I had been wanting to do a bigger project for a while, he was keen but his schedule was overloaded, I said I’ll handle everything! After a lot of back n forth it ended up being rather last minute. Tim & I chose the images, banners were ordered & I showed up at #CommodoreBarryPark ready to install only to be told “Sorry we went over budget with the lighting as the previous provider walked out on us, so we have to cancel!” 👀😳 Well Tim had spent the $ on my accord... NOW what?? 🤦♂️ We agreed ok screw the #artistfee 😐 We / I HAVE to make this work! @MatthewMorgan1 gave the ok if we were cool w it. They said you can leave the banners we’ll find a spot for them... I thought hmmm it’s ok I’ll take care of it if that’s cool? I chose the big fence got some zip ties and put them up! Tks @a_r_morr @desti.knee for support & 📷 RESULT: the most instagrammed #selfie opportunity of the festival! People LOVED it! 🙏🏽❤️✊🏽 #fortheCulture #supportthearts the #themovement #movement #culture (at Afropunk Festival)
