Advice from the Girl in the Garden
Lilies feel the best in between toes. Like velvet gripping nerves that are so often ignored. Igniting them with a sudden reminder of what it's like to feel absolutely anything, especially the nice things. If you can't find lilies though, sit down in the swirling center of a petunia and let your troubles wander away as the dew drops slip. Down the petals. One by. One. Plop. Down to whatever is below. Leaving you where you are. Legs crossed, bum sat on a petunia, or a lily if you've managed. Roses, of course, are lovely. You don't need me to to tell you that. Just listen to the wind for enough days, eventually someone's fond whispers will reach you. Perhaps those of a lover or someone who wishes to be. Those are the best ones, you can practically hear the pink in the blusters of their baby's breath. Tasting cotton candy daisies from sweaty dew drop palms. It's so nice, to plop yourself here long enough to hear them. It's not hard to be patient when every moment is stitched with sweet lily (or perhaps petunia) and finished with a rose. Love is certainly nice to watch . Except when it belongs to the fairies.
No one seems to be able to tell me why the fairies always seem so smitten. They blush pink peony and sigh lavender sweet. Dancing around, the flowers but a floor beneath their feet. That part can't help but make me a little angry. I understand wanting to be blinded, but to the point where one ignores lilies, even petunias? And when I ask them why they just keep dancing. And then I can't help but go red as the roses. Balls of baby's breath clenched in my so unfairy like fist. Why don't those with wings just fly? Why bother with me or my flowers, if only to place them beneath your feet? Falling for a fairy seems like nothing but dross. They won't even waste their tulip wings to catch you before you hit the ground, hard. So please don't bother. It's best to spend your time in the flowers. Sinking in to pillowy centers. Blossoming with the buds at the rise of the sun. And if you a hear a whisper of rose in the wind, I know how enchanting it is, but please try to turn your head.
