So we all know the pottermore house test is random and unreliable (im a hufflepuff and ive been sorted into both ravenclaw and gryffindor. Not dissing either house. Just annoying -_-) what do you say for their wand test?
I don’t think there was enough lore on wands prior to pottermore for much of anything to cement itself beyond what pottermore has done with the wand test. Additionally there are so many factors with the wands that it would be hard for anyone to try to really parse out how accurate it really is.
But basically, if you don’t want the wand it gave you, or don’t agree with the test results for any reason, find another one. That’s totally allowed. While in canon the wand chooses the wizard, we live in reality and that’s not how things work. Whatever wand you feel connected to is the one for you, even if you have to hunt down just the right wood and debate over a quarter inch difference in length until you eventually pick something.
I took the wand test on the warner bros. website back when the first movie was coming out and it gave me a 14″ willow with unicorn hair (ya know, Ron’s second wand. The one that was only ever his) and I really vibed with that. Willow trees have always been a Thing for me and a 14″ wand is logical as hell when you’re as lanky as I’ve always been.
So your wand doesn’t have to come from pottermore. It can come from another site or your own imagination.
Hell, it doesn’t even have to be made of things Ollivander uses. It could be reclaimed wood with veela hair or some shit.
