Norwegian Cup Slalom Competition
So today C and I entered this after hearing about it on Thursday. Overall had a really fun day and met loads of nice paddlers. I did alright in the kayaking. I got all the gates, stayed pretty dry and made a not embarrassing time. (Think I came fifth in the females.)
Which, considering its my second slalom competition and my first time in a slalom boat is not too shabby. Especially as the last competition I was upside down as I passed the finish line. However the course was quite a chunk easier. Especially as I have kayaked a lot since then.
I also had a go in a C1 which I found a lot easier than I expected. So much so that without a practice I raced the course. Longest (non-penalty) time of the day, but again made all the gates and stayed dry. Getting out the canoe was quite tricky as the water levels on the Nidderdale had gone down so the height from the boat to the pier was from my feet to the top of my shoulders. And of course my knees weren't their happiest after being squished. I felt that on the cycle home.
Good day and I look forward to the next time I get back in a slalom kayak and canoe and the next time I meet the people from today. (Hopefully very soon as I was invited along to the polo practice on Thursday, they've got a competition coming up and are trying to make some teams.)
