I think there's a lot of people out there who instead of internalizing that parents are human beings just... project the black and white dichotomy of Good Parent vs Bad Parent onto every even vaguely parent shaped person they see. And rather than acknowledging traits or actions which might challenge this worldview they just ignore them entirely.
#this obviously applies to real life too but#in this specific instance i was thinking about this wrt barry vs bruce#because barry has the opposite issue from bruce in fandom where because he's thought of as a Good Parent people will just shave off#all negative or remotely questionable qualities#though i think part of why he's thought of this way also has to do with the fact that he's much more expressive than bruce#bruce's flattened affect and difficulty understanding and communicating his own emotions is imo one of the biggest things fans tend to hold#against him#vintagerobin.txt#salt
