15
Aw yiss. At 15 I would have been blogging about the books I was reading, extremely tedious and mundane things that happened at school or whatever, possibly the TV shows I was watching (I want to say Seventh Heaven, good grief, among others), probably My Big Fat Greek Wedding since that was when I first watched it. What even did happen in 2002
(Wolfwood, age 50) What are you looking forward to the most?
Wolfwood never thought he would live up to be fifty.. He always felt like he'd be lucky to live up to thirty, never mind later. Actually, he had been ready to die, so many years ago, after his fight with Crybaby and C. But life --read: Vash-- had decided it hadn't been his time to go yet. Still, he was content like that, if a bit sad that he would die long before Spikey. But then, life --Vash again-- had again decided to grant him with something he had never dared to hope for, and more. He got more than just a normal life. He got something that's much closer to eternal -- and if he's honest.. He tries not to think about that too much, it's scaring him. Something at least long enough that he might not have to leave Spikey alone. He might even outlive him, and isn't that a scary thought?
He's taken aback by the question, though, blinking. What surprises and frustrates him the most is not the question itself, but rather the fact that the answer doesn't come by itself. The fact that he's forced to think about it. He hasn't thought about this for a while, but he's always been someone who wanted things, even if he rarely got them. When he was little, he wanted to have a home with loving parents, instead of those he had.. Later, he looked forward to when he'd be able to quit the Orphanage to not be a burden anymore, and maybe earn money to help. Later still, he'd been striving for the moment he'd be strong enough to break his master's neck. When he grew up, he wanted to be free, and to be useful. Then his life started to revolve around Vash and he'd become a mess of wants and hopes.
But now... Now he realizes he probably has all that he's ever wanted. And that would be a devastatingly scary thought if he wasn't as happy as he is.
Still, he can find some things he does look forward to, but they make him blush with their simplicity, "That quiet time after a successful mission, when everythin' gets settled and everyone relaxes. When ya see the faces of people in that moment, ya know it's worth it." That and just being with his partner and his friends. Such simple things to look forward to, compared to how it's been all his life. Maybe that's because he literally has all the time in the world? Either way, he's too happy to ponder this too much.
(Vash, age 200) What makes you happiest right now?
At this time of his life, Vash is probably the happiest he’s ever been. He has Wolfwood at his side, alive and not about to die any time soon. He has precious friends with him, and even if he’s had to say some painful goodbyes, the joy over-weighs the sad.
It’s the stabler he’s ever been mentally, too… He doesn’t wear the restraining cuffs anymore either. He feels confident enough in his self-control, now, he doesn’t need them anymore.
If he’s honest, he probably has everything he’s ever wanted, too. Including a rich and wonderful job where he works for love and peace in the Universe. More than he could ever have hoped for.
He smiles, fully content, “You know, looking back and seeing all that’s been accomplished…. Seeing where we came from and where we are now…. It really is the best feeling.”
