A Bit Crowded | 1968 | OPEN
Augustus didn’t get nervous all that often, but there was currently a knot in his stomach as he turned one last time to wave to his parents. He wasn’t sure why he was suddenly doubting that he was ready to go. He’d been waiting to go to Hogwarts since he’d heard of it, but now he wished that he could run over and have his parents wrap him up in their arms one more time before he boarded the train.
He waved and took a deep breath, before he turned and took a few steps into the train, dragging his trunk behind him. There were a great number of students bustling about and trying to get around him so he pushed open the door of the nearest compartment, not wanting to be surrounded by all the commotion. He quickly slid the door closed and leaned up against it, glad that the compartment seemed to be relatively quiet. It wasn’t empty of course and when he looked around he caught sight of someone sitting on the right side of the compartment.
“Excuse me,” He said, moving to put his trunk up. “I had to get out of the corridor. There’s so many people out there.”
Mischief at Midnight: 1970 (Mary&Mark)
Wherever Mark McKinnon went, trouble often followed. Mainly because he was the reason for the trouble being caused. Hogwarts had been an eagerly awaited adventure. The stories from his elder brother Nick about his time there and then Charlie coming home for summer with different work to them. New and more advanced spells. It all sounded so exciting. One thing that really got him excited was the Quidditch matches. Teams and actual practices to try out for and hopefully attend. Sure his family were fun to play against but actual structured tournaments sounded like heaven to the young sportsman.
It was a Saturday night, just breaking into the morning of Sunday. There’d been a match that afternoon Gryffindor against Slytherin. The rivalry between the two had been quite an experience for the first year.
Now, most of the students were tucked up in their beds. Except for one recently turned twelve year old who was out looking for an adventure. Who could resist with a huge castle out there to explore! What to sneak into first? Try and get into the prefect bathrooms his brother told him about. Or the highly sort after kitchens with treats to fill the heart’s desire. Maybe the library to try and get in the forbidden section but books weren’t his main interest.
Quietly tip-toeing down the stone steps as only embers remained of the fire in the red smothered common room. He made his way to the portrait before spinning around when he heard a noise. Great! Caught before you even set foot out of the common room. Nice one Marky boy.
His face twisted from fear to confusion to a smile when he recognised the other Gryffindor. “Mary right?” he asked as he had sat next to here at the feast on their first evening in the castle. “Wanna go on an adventure?”

Endless Corridors: 1973 (Alecto&Thomas)
It wasn’t fun being just one of the shortest in your year. It made things tricky when a swarm of six foot tall students left a class and cut across you in the corridor then all you saw was bodies and bags.
He’d been wandering for twenty minutes but found he just kept going in circles or entering parts of the castle that gave him the feeling he shouldn’t be there.
Stopping when he noticed the corridor had emptied. Thomas hesitated trying to figure out which way he was supposed to be going. All the halls looked the same in his eyes. Looking defeated he sighed softly and lent back against the wall to keep out of the way of other students. He was too nervous to ask anybody for help. His first couple of months hadn’t been going that well and he feared a lot of the other students. Most he’d met hadn’t been too kind.

Away From Home: 1960 (Ted&Scott)

It all went rather smoothly. Just like his family had promised. The train ride, the sorting hat. He was placed into Hufflepuff, just like his father. It was all still quite scary. He'd grown up surrounded by his family. There hadn't been many people in his life as they'd kept him close. He hadn't minded. He loved spending his days trailing after his dad or cozying up by the fire with his mum. Queenie had been the one to introduce him to new things. She was the cool aunty. Most of his time with her was spent in fits of laughter at all the trouble they got up to. It was strange being away from them, away from home.
After dinner, Scott went upstairs to his assigned dorm and bunk. Unpacking the few items he had onto the bedside table and shoving his case under his bed. His mother insisted he be neat and tidy. That probably wouldn't last for long. He hadn't really spoken to anyone there. He wasn't quite sure how to either.
Looking to the bed beside his as he figured if he was going to speak to one person then maybe it should be the owner of that bed. It would be a bit awkward if he didn't, wouldn't it? He could hear the chatter of other boys a little further down the dorm room but decided it best to stay where he was. He'd wait until tomorrow. That seemed the best plan.
Leaning down to look under his bed as he dragged the case out once more. Ruffling through his neatly folded clothes to find a packet of sweets and a new book. Mum must have hidden it there. Placing the book in his lap as the pages fell open to reveal a note. "Good luck, have fun! Love and hugs, Mum and Dad". A smile formed on his face as his eyes scanned the words again and again. He was going to miss them.
