thank you for the tag @asher-writes! this time I do actually have something from my 'A Crew for All Seasons' wip! ahem-
The agent and the student took their leave in the face of Mrs Pearce's confused and irritated expression.
ok so it isn't much, but hey, I'm just following the rules! this is the last line of what I wrote today! but because I feel like sharing, imma put the whole scene I wrote today under the cut. it's still a little rough because it is hot off the press and I haven't had a chance to edit it much yet, but I'm also debating whether it stays in the story or not. we'll have to wait and see lol
I'm tagging the following in case they want to see this, but also to say hi! ^^
"Hello, Mrs Pearce." Agent Baker greeted her as they entered the office.
"Ah, Agent Baker! How were they? Didn't give you too much trouble did they?"
Baker glanced back at Aquaria as she stepped out from behind them.
"Ah." Mrs Pearce cleared her throat, "Ah, Miss Morals!"
"Morales." Aquaria muttered.
Baker's eyes flicked over her as Mrs Pearce gamely continued on.
"Always striving above and beyond! Miss Morals is such a great representative for the school-"
"Morales." Agent Baker said.
Mrs Pearce, refusing to meet Aquaria's eyes, cleared her throat and Aquaria stood just a little bit straighter.
"Right, yes. Anyways. Can I help you, Aquaria?"
I sure hope so, Aquaria thought drily. Aloud she said,
"Yes, Miss. I was wondering if we could maybe get our information packs a little earlier."
Mrs Pearce frowned.
"Well, I have them here, but-"
"Excellent," Baker interjected, "Aquaria can take them to her peers now."
"I don't know-"
But Agent Baker was already approaching her desk and reaching for a stack of envelopes.
"Ah, here they are. Right where I left them. You don't mind, do you?"
Without waiting for a response, Baker handed the envelopes to Aquaria. The agent's correction of her name must've cast them in a good light, because Aquaria could've sworn that they winked at her when they handed the envelopes over. Mrs Pearce had gone quite red, eyes darting between Aquaria and Baker. The agent nodded at the principal.
"Well, we won't take up any more of your time, Mrs Pearce." they turned slightly and offered Aquaria their hand. "Thank you for your time." Aquaria shook it. "I'll be back on Monday to hear from you."
Aquaria nodded, jaw clenched tight to prevent her grin from slipping out. Baker tilted their chin towards the door and Aquaria took that as a sign to wave cheerfully at her principal.
"Thanks, Mrs Pearce! I'll make sure they get to everyone."
The agent and the student took their leave in the face of Mrs Pearce's confused and irritated expression.
Agent Gavin Q. Baker | Director Baldwin's Second-In-Command of S.H.I.E.L.D.
"Sticks to the book"
Born in Chicago to a father who never failed to make his resentment of his survival and his mother's death in childbirth clear to him, upon reaching adulthood Baker first joins the United States armed forces, and later becomes an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. Baker has a brief stint in Madripoor that gets him noticed by various heads of state and government around the world.
Director Baldwin takes Baker under her wing and he acts as her second-in-command for years before Baldwin creates the "Avengers Initiative". Baker is wary of these superheroes, as they operate outside of S.H.I.E.L.D. and most importantly, the rules. After Britt's return to Earth, he does see the importance of needing such people, but he does have doubts of Baldwin's leadership and her lack of restraint on the Avengers.
Personality
A stickler for the rules, Baker got where he is by hard work and learning how to play the game of politics. Unafraid of combat, or to get his hands dirty on missions, Baker is a great asset to S.H.I.E.L.D. He doesn't always see eye to eye with Director Baldwin and her decisions. His only real companion at work was Agent Andrea Hobbs.
"You put those people together, you can't expect what's going to happen"
"When did you become an expert in thermonuclear astrophysics?"
"How does it work now? They've gone their separate ways, some pretty extremely far. We get into a situation like this again, what happens then?"
