If all of you are Catholic, how can you support a show like Hellsing?
Glad you asked anon!
Well, as many might know - catholics are all about surrounding one’s self with things that are good. Now you might ask, “but hellsing has things like rape, murder, etc. How can that be good?” Well as a Catholic, I can tell you. You see Hellsing does have some ‘sinful’ content, but none of it is there without purpose. The show is essentially about the worth of humanity, and what it means to lose ones humanity.
Hellsing has many parallels to catholic teaching. I.e It shows the folly of trying to become a god (so to speak), through Alucard’s turmoil and the downfall of Millennium and also through the death of Maxwell. This is like the story of how Adam and Eve sought to be like God by eating from the forbidden tree.
Also, shows like Hellsing are not aiming to tell the viewer to go rape, pillage and murder. In fact it is quite a cautionary tale of what happens to individuals who become drunk with power and how eventually their downfall will occur (in one way or another).
If anything Hellsing is a wonderful allegorical piece of writing that warns the viewer/reader of the eventual effects of corruption, sin, and disobeying God.
In short, it is totally fine for a Catholic to watch Hellsing. As long as one keeps in mine the message of the show/manga.

Wait, Anderson has a phobia of sex?
It’s not that he’s afraid of sex. It’s that he’s afraid of being sexually abused/raped. This is a very interesting phobia. I personally headcanoned it because a friend of mine has it, he’s also a Catholic priest. It was just something that seemed to fit a character that focused on protecting children (at the orphanage and hunting vampire) and was so dedicated to his job. He could have had a close call as a child or teen that could have triggered it, but no it’s not sex that he’s scared of. It’s being raped.

Also, to piggy back off of that thought. It would make sense that he is afraid of having a sexual attraction to someone. It’s not the sex he is afraid of, rather it is the desire to have sex he fears. And he is afraid of this desire because of the temptation it brings.

Do the iscariots watch horror movies?
Yes!
Anderson likes the classics and very campy horror films, because he can watch them with the children. While Maxwell loves psychological thrillers and true crime stories. ||Agent Lune||
Heinkel prefers the gory films like saw, Hostel and Friday the 13th along with other slasher films. Yumiko on the other hand, can’t bare to watch horror films. Although Yumi loves them, when she isn’t trying to kill the tv that is. ||Agent Remi||
Who bunks with who on group missions?
Yumiko always bunks with Heinkel, and Anderson with Maxwell if he is present on the mission. If Maxwell isn’t then Anderson rooms alone while Yumiko and Heinkel still bunk together. For Anderson it’s a curtesy thing.
