Cecil has kind of gotten tired of the casseroles everyone is bringing him to help cope with Carlos' absence.... Would any of you mind bringing other stuff instead? Like coffee? I'm the one who has to eat it and...wheat casserole?

Here is the second half of that little thing I posted the other, that's part of my Amazing Grace series. My Ao3 name is HighPriestessoftheMysterious, if you're interested.

The children were already gathered when Gabriel arrived the next morning “Blessed morning munchkins!” “Blessed morning, Brother Gabriel” chimed fourteen young voices. “Guess what?” Gabriel clapped his hands together “we’re going on a trip today.” The fledglings started chattering excitedly and asking “Where, Brother Gabriel, where?” Gabriel whistled “Simmer down, will ya and let me talk. Brother Lucifer is coming with us so when he gets here we’ll tell you where we’re going.” Considering how popular Lucifer was, everyone seemed pretty excited that he was joining them. They were all still too young for the class (battle flight) that he taught. Lucifer landed next to him “Brother” he nodded to Gabriel and touched their wings together in greeting. “Brother. Now, munchkins, what do we say to Brother Lucifer?” “Blessed morning, Brother Lucifer” they chorused. “Blessed morning, children” He said looking at them as if he didn’t quite know what to do with them.

Gabriel chuckled “Okay everyone, listen up. Since you’re all doing so well with flying we’re going down to Earth today.” Little wings twittered with anticipation and some kids jumped up and down. Lucifer touched Gabriel’s arm “What are they doing? Are they having a fit?” “They’re just excited, Luci” Gabriel whistled again “come on, kids, don’t make me use my Archangel voice.” This got them all to shut up and stand at attention. “Okay then” he continued “I want two lines, boys in one, girls in the other with the best fliers in the back and you know who you are. Why in the back you may be wondering? Anyone know?” Castiel, Duncan and Rebecca raised their hands. “Hmm” Gabriel tapped his chin thoughtfully “Rebecca, dear, I saw you first.” “Since we’ll be travelling downward the best fliers will be able to see if anyone needs help.” Gabriel smiled “Good girl, that’s exactly right. I’ll be leading us there and Brother Lucifer will take up the rear ready to assist as well, won’t you, Lucifer?” Lucifer stared at him a moment but then nodded “Yes since you know where we’re going better than I do.” Gabriel clapped his shoulder “You need to get down to Earth more often, Lucifer, it’s great fun.” … Lucifer didn’t understand how Gabriel was so good with the fledglings but then maybe it was because Lucifer didn’t really understand fledglings. He supposed that was why he avoided his own offspring when he could—he just didn’t know how to handle them. He kept his eyes on Methos as the children got in their lines. The boy seemed almost bored but there was a hint of excitement in his eyes. Yes, the child was definitely his. Methos stood between a white winged angel who must be descended from Gabriel by his smirk alone and a black winged angel who could only come from Michael. It was the way he set his jaw with that grim determination. “Okay” Gabriel said for the third freaking time once the children were lined up “before we take off, I think Brother Lucifer should know all your names.” Lucifer remembered only a handful of names, like Amanda who was also descended from him and the fledglings who seemed to be closest to Methos; Castiel, Balthazar and Duncan. They were the last four in the boys’ line. He found it interesting though that Castiel, the smallest of the boys was one of the better fliers. … “All right munchkins” Gabriel said when they got to Earth “have fun.” “You’re just going to let them play?” Lucifer asked. “They’re kids, Lucifer, of course I am.” “We were never children.” “Exactly, Luci, exactly.” “Luci sounds like a female’s name.” Gabriel sighed and moved away from him “Loosen up will ya.” Lucifer went to Methos who was standing with Balthazar and they were watching Castiel and Duncan play fight with swords. “Where did they get those?” he asked. “Made them from these things” Methos held up a smooth white object, a shell, Lucifer found the information in his head. “A shell” he said “it once housed a sea creature.” He looked back at the two boys playing “I’m impressed. How did they learn to transfigure objects?” “Brother Gabriel” Balthazar said “he said he learned it from you.” Lucifer smiled “It’s true. Will you two be playing the game?” Methos shrugged “Sword fighting’s more Duncan and Castiel’s thing.” Lucifer nodded “Ah well, they do come from Michael. It makes sense. How are you, Methos?” “All right. And you?” “I am well.” “Well this is all kinds of awkward” Balthazar muttered and stepped away from them. Methos rolled his eyes and then looked up at Lucifer “Something you want?” Lucifer bristled “I would like you to show me a little more respect. I am your father.” “You could act like it every once and a while. I hardly see you.” Lucifer found he didn’t know what to say to that. Suddenly it came to him “I’m here now.” … Gabriel had been watching a couple of the girls play some sort of jumping game when movement to his left caught his attention. Castiel and Duncan were play fighting, which wasn’t unusual because they often did…hey, where did they get those swords? He had checked everyone for weapons before the flight. What was wrong with those two today? Of all the boys, they were the most obedient. He went over to them, they were getting awfully close to the water. And awfully close to Castiel stepping on a fish. “Whoa there kiddo” Gabriel grabbed him, effectively stopping the sword fight “watch where you’re going” he pointed to the creature “Don’t step on that fish, Castiel, big plans for that fish.” Lucifer scoffed “Oh let him step on that fish.” “Nobody asked you” Gabriel snapped at him. “Now, Castiel, Duncan, where did you get those swords?” Castiel looked down sheepishly “We made them.” Gabriel sighed, he’d had a feeling it was too early to be teaching them transfiguration. Michael was going to kill him.
