for when the missions are scarce, the paperwork needs avoiding, you are feeling nostalgic, and you need a drink | lounge / mambo | 007 Fest 2020
004 came across the room almost entirely on accident. This corner of the sixth floor was used mostly for storage and she was only poking around to pass the time, so you can imagine her surprise when she opened a door in one office and found a veritable time capsule attached to it. Sure, everything was buried under abandoned office furniture and a couple rolled up carpets, but she could handle that. She let 002 in on her little secret and told him if he helped her clean up the space, she wouldn’t shoot him on sight if she found him hanging out in her new lair.
Over the course of the next few days, they managed to clear out the desks and lamps no one cared about to other storage rooms and wiped down at least fifty years of dust. (And if they both put off paperwork in the process, who would know?) They staged the exterior room so anyone who happened to peek in from the hall wouldn’t see the door and, with some judicious rearranging of furniture, eventually had the perfect hideaway.
Only a few weeks passed before 004 walked in to find 007 in his shirtsleeves, a smug grin aimed at her from where he was sprawled out on the couch. She didn’t bother asking who else knew about it, knowing that sooner or later 002 would likely let it slip to the rest of the Double-Ohs. She just shoved his feet off the sofa and told him if he started hanging out there, he needed to contribute to the space too. The next time she returned from a mission and needed an in-office escape, she found a crudely made sign hung on the door handle declaring “AGENTS ONLY” and a surprisingly full bar cart inside. The record player and collection of vinyls was a nice touch too.
