Honestly what is it with shows and absolutely DRAGGING a ship that at first could work until you drag it so much that it’s forceful. Like…Haida and Retsuko had potential to be something good I guess? But it doesn’t help that the show not only had Retsuko turn him down for like…what 3 or 4 damn times??? But they made Haida (a likable charming character that I enjoyed) turn into an obnoxious dude who could NOT take the hint for the life of him that him and Retsuko shouldn’t be together. The show itself kept bringing up the point that they barley know each other (with characters literally flat out SAYING THAT) and season 3 set up the perfect arc for Haida where he had to just let go of her and potentially find love with Inui, only to legit BACKTRACK all of that so he could save Retsuko, fall in love again, and then season 4 has him mope again that Retsuko didn’t like him that way all over again. It’s gotten to the point where I DO NOT want Retsuko and Haida to get together because they honestly shouldn’t, and it’s disappointing that the writers wasted a good character arc and even a character like Inui simply because they cared about the shipping more. It also gotten to the point where I’m just…sick of Haida as a whole? Like I don’t HATE him but the show certainly sucked the enjoyment out of his character since they fumbled the bag, and I’m especially done with the show focusing on him. Like..maybe it’s just me? But we focused on Haida a LOT for like….2 seasons, and now the 5th and last season seems to be centering around him as well. What about Fenneko? She rarely gets focus or development AT ALL and is literally closer to Retsuko than Haida ever was. With that said I have no idea what the show will do with this ship for the last season, but I’m saying it now, they shouldn’t be together.
