Let's switch it up, I feel like it's time to give kengan some love.
Can I request a kanoh Agito x reader please. I feel like the trope friends to lovers suit him a lot. Getting in a relationship with him is probably like the longest slowburn ever, but its very rewarding and worth the wait. So maybe something like, both reader and him got pick up by metsudo around the same time and things just went from there. You guys bonded, build a trust between the two and just become great friends and over the year its bloom into something else. Maybe the ending could be something like before going on his journey Agito confess and promise to come back to see reader, or he confess and ask if reader want to come with him, basically going on this journey together seeing the world, figuring out themselves, this relationship.
( I'm so so so sorry, I really tried not to ramble, it's just that the hyperfictation this time hits harder and I just have so much ideas, again write whatever that come to your mind, also remember to stay hydrated, hope you're having a wonderful day)
Sorry this took me so long, I've recently gotten busy, and production as has slowed down significantly.
I hope this story is to your liking, and if there's any issues you can request for a new story, through asks, dms, comments, or reblogs! If no issues then please enjoy!

From Me To You
Agito Kanoh x Childhood Friend! Fem! Reader
You and Agito grew up together, you were each other's life lines. Nothing could separate you from him, and nothing could separate him from you. You're his lighter half, and he's your darker half. Somewhere down the line, it somehow switched up... And Agito wasn't Agito anymore.
The streets of China. They're rough, unforgiving, and ultimately selfish. You learnt this at a young age. Your father left you and your mother, your mother was nothing but a common whore and eventually when she began losing business, she figured you were the issue and she abandoned you at some random corner store. The streets raised you, they taught you how to make deals, how to read body language, how to understand code language. They taught you how to steal and lie, they taught you how to trust and how to detect deception. They taught you to be greedy and rude, but they also taught you how to be kind and understanding.
Going through this rough life, was something you'd never wish on your worst enemy. You were mostly alone, sometimes you'd make an odd friend here and there, but they never lasted long. Either they went on with their lives or the streets got them. Either way, loneliness was your best friend... Until you met Agito. You've seen him around a few times, he ran with a way ward gang, they weren't exactly bad, but they weren't good either, but then again nobody was inherently evil when they come to the streets. In the end its what you allow to happen, will you let it consume you? Or will you over come it, and keep your truth?
You and Agito have never actually interacted with one another, you've seen him and he's seen you, but other than that you both knew nothing of each other. You never had a reason to speak until one day you did. You were getting roughen up by a group of thugs, they were just a little older than you. Their group was a mixture of boys and girls. Runaways, juveniles, delinquents, and drug heads and dealers. They were just a group of young teens, lost in a world that threw them to the side. You knew of their group, and always avoided them, but today you weren't aware of your surroundings, you were still happy about the kitten you were able to save and take to a shelter. You were walking 'home' when you got caught up.
Turning a random corner into an alley way you always took, you stubbled upon a group beatdown of some random business man, from his shabby look though you could tell he was well on his way to being one with the slums too. They were stomping him out, cursing at him for not having their money, you moved to leave but one of them noticed you, causing them to slowly corner you, but you panicked and ran away. They chased you, yelling and cursing at you. You ran and ran, your lungs burned and your legs began to feel heavy but you didn't stop, not until you ran into Agito on accident.
He was coming around the corner, holding a bag of goodies he just purchased from a corner store, he was going to go back to his base, and share his treats with the rest of his gang, when you collided into him. He fell back and so did you. Both of you wincing from the harsh and unexpecting fall. He recovered first ready to fuss but he seen you and he stopped short. He's seen you a few times now, the young girl who was always by herself, wondering around aimlessly sometimes. You stood up quickly panic on your face, you gave him a rushed apology before you rushed off. He was confused for a moment before he seen the way ward group, a gang of young teen thugs. He knew them fairly well, and he didn't like them. He gathered his spilled belongings quickly before he raced after them.
He saved you, you watched as he beat them all, they got some good hits in on him, but overall he won. You sat there, holding his bag that he casually gave you, pressed into a brick wall, making yourself small as to not be a victim of collateral damage. Once it was all done, he walked over to you with a limp. His cheek was slowly swelling, his lip busted, his knuckles busted and bloodied. You slowly stood up, staring up at him cautiously but with worry. He stared down at you for a moment before he spoke. "Are you okay?" He asked. You nodded, before you timidly reached your arms out, offering him his bag. He stared down at it for a moment before he looked off and began walking out of the alleyway.
You stared at him in confusion, you then looked down at the bag and back up at him. He stopped before he left the alley, and he looked back at you. "Come on... Let's get out of here." He said. Your eyes slightly widen before a small smile graced your face. It would seems you've made another new friend. He was limping, but he was still pretty fast. You walked next to him, striking up a small conversation as you did. He didn't say much, but he would make a noise or even respond if it was a question directed towards him. During the long walk, you learnt his name, Agito Kanoh, your learnt his age, 14 , you learnt that he was the third in command of his little gang, and you learnt that he was from Mainland and he was on his way back there now. It would explain the long walk.
You're somewhat familiar with Mainland, you've never been but you've heard that its rough, rougher than where you're from. Entering into Mainland, you noticed the change immediately. It was much more dank, it was very cold, and the sun seemed to disappear. You kept closer to him, realizing now you were officially in unfamiliar territory. Your arms hugged yourself tight, shielding yourself from the chill in the air. It wasn't much longer that he brought you to a large pipe, it was huge. Half of it was above land, and the other half was covered in dirt and water. You observed the pipe, realizing its the entrance to a sewage system. You didn't want to step into the dirtied water. Partially because of the filth and partially because of the cold. But Agito walked forward, you watched as he stepped on a patch of land, something you didn't notice, it seemed like an island, one that traveled deep into the pipe.
He paused at the entrance, looking back at you. "Come inside... Its much warmer inside." He said. You wrinkled your nose a bit, your thoughts bouncing for a bit, but after a while you followed after him. Seeing that you were going to come in with him, he turned back and continued forward into the large pipe. You followed in behind him, trailing after him into the dark pipe... And that's were you stayed. It became your new home. You were first welcomed with cautious stares and timid approaches, but eventually it all smoothed out into comfortability and familiarity. You became apart of their family, and you loved it. For the first time, you truly belonged somewhere. You hoped and prayed that this'll be your life forever... But even forever has an end.
4 years later, at the age of 16, is when your happy life went up in flames. First Agito went missing, then an illness ran through all of China, killing thousands, your poor family fell victim to that illness as well. With no access to medication, and making home remedies was almost impossible to create, the illness swept through the sewage like wild fire. The older teens and the few adults amongst you tried their best to heal the younger children, they did their best, but the children fell victim and died. Their bodies were burned to keep the illness from spreading from their corpse. It never got easy, burning another little body, some smaller than the rest. sometimes even some of the older children had to suffer the same faith, and eventually the older teens and the adults. Your once large family of 30 had dwindled down to just 10, you were now the oldest, the rest were 10 and under... You had to make a tough choice, but with no other options left, you did what was best for you and for them.
You gave them up to the orphanage, telling them that you'll come back to pick them up later today, and that you'll all go back home soon, but that wasn't going to happen. You left them there, all smiling and waving, saying they'll see you when you come back... You traveled alone for a while after that, back to the streets alone again, you went for what you knew, going back to your old ways of living wasn't easy but it wasn't impossible. After 6 months you were able to get a job, and after almost 2 years you were finally able to get your own apartment. Now 18, you were pretty stable now. You had a dependable job, a real roof over your head, plenty of hygienic products, food and clothes. You were the most set you've ever been, and you quickly fell into a new and comfortable routine.
Wake up at 7 am, freshen up, eat breakfast, drink coffee, go to work, take a break, go back to work, go home, take a shower, make something for dinner, brush your teeth, then go to bed and do it again tomorrow. It became comfortable, familiar, and most importantly it was yours. On your off days, you'd make it a point to go out and look for Agito... You remember, a little before the outbreak, he vanished... You never forgot about him... It was because of him that you were able to find your first real family. You just had to know he was okay, and if you had to look all over China, you will. No one knew of him, but that wasn't a shocker since he was a sewage kid, those children went unknown, but he was at least 2 to 3 years older than you, so he's bound to be an adult now. He should've had some form of a name made for himself.
But to China, he was a ghost. By the age of 20, your searching had slowed down, you've gotten a new job, more up close to the city now. You lived in a much nicer apartment now. You never thought you would get out of the slums, but here you were. Working at a café close to Hong Kong, it wasn't exactly out of the poor side of town, but it was out of the slums. You had more responsibilities now. You had bigger bills to pay, your role at work required more time, you had more money to actually take care of yourself and your home with. You ventured into the bustling city more, you dreamed of living in this city, finally out of the slums for good and into normalcy... But you still tried to make time to look for Agito. You were always asking your customers if they knew of him.
But they'd always shake their head... It seems he was still a ghost... Until one day, while lounging in your home, someone came knocking on your door. You looked over lazily before you sighed and stood up, not sure who it could be, as you didn't get visitor often. You peeked out the small hole, seeing nothing but what looked to be wide shoulders and a strong chest, with a black shirt stretched over it. You backed up some, arching a brow. You then decided to unlock the door, cracking it open just enough for you to poke your head out. Your eyes cast downwards as you notice a pair of black dress shoes first. Your eyes slowly trailed up, seeing that the tall man was wearing black dress pants, a black belt, and a simple but sleek compressed black shirt.
He was massive, strong too. You then looked up to his face, and you almost flinched away when you saw the strong, piercing gaze. He was pale, his face narrow, his eyes a stormy grey, and his black hair is slicked back neatly. You stared up at him owlishly. "Um.... can I help you... sir?" You nervously asked. He said nothing for a moment. You were starting to regret opening your door. You were about to duck back inside and close your door, but a sudden burst of colors came into your field of vision. It startled you, making you jump a bit, but once you relaxed, you realize that it was a lovely bouquet of flowers.
You blinked at the beautiful arrangement of colors. The ones that stood out the most to you were the Spider Liles. These don't usually go into bouquets. He shook them some, pulling you from your stupor, silently urging you to take them. You looked up at him for a moment before you timidly pushed the door open just a tad, and you grabbed the bundle. Once in your grasp, he pulled back. His stare pointed and watchful, almost like he was waiting for your reaction. "Um.... Thank you.... They're beautiful." You said shyly yet awkwardly. At your words, he gave a solid, strong nod. "Good... I made sure to add some of your favorites in there... You always used to pluck them from the weeds that grew around the entrance to the sewage." He said.
His voice held a deep timber. It was strong and dark, and deep enough to make your insides rattle. You stared up at him, your eyes widening. "How'd you know that?" You asked him. He was right. Some of your favorite flowers were scattered throughout the bouquet. They were considered a weed, but you thought they were beautiful anyway. Society outcasts them, and so were you... You seem the familiarity and the beauty in them... They held meaning to you. You studied the man, trying to make sense of who he was. He wasn't any of the young children you gave away to the orphanage. Neither was he any of the older kids, they all practically died.
He saw the cogs in your head turning, his strong stare softened, and his posture relaxed some. "It's been a long time, Y/N... I'm not surprised that you don't remember me." He said, he sounded somewhat disappointed. Your gaze stayed locked on him for a moment. Your eyes suddenly lightened with shock and realization. "Agito?.... Is that really you?" You gently asked, your guard up so as to not get your heartbroken with a head shake. But his eyes lightened with joy, and he nodded slowly. Your eyes widened, and a large smile bloomed on your face. "I KNEW YOU WERE ALIVE!!! I JUST KNEW IT!!" You cheered your grip on the bouquet tightening as you threw yourself at him. Your arms wrapping around his strong neck.
He was quick to wrap his arms around you, gently but firm. He missed you. "It is... I've come to see you... One last time." He said. Your smile slowly faded, and your eyes saddened. You pulled back from him, your hands resting on his arms. "What do you mean?" You sadly asked. He sighed as he stared down at you, his large hands gently resting on your waist. "It means just what I said... I'm leaving China... Forever." He said, giving you slightly more detail. You slowly shook your head in denial, your sadden eyes turning desperate. "No, no, no... You can't just show up and leave!!... I've been looking for you for years!! I've done nothing but worry myself, silly!! I've lost sleep over you!! You can't just come to my door unannounced, give me some stupid flowers and then just leave!!... You vanished from my life for the last 6 years!! I was beginning to think that you died!!... At least tell me what happened to you!!"
You ranted, your voice slightly echoing through the quiet halls, but you didn't care, and neither did he. Your eyes watered, tears threatening to spill over as you lamented to him your woes. He stayed silent, listening to your words, your worries... He felt guilty. He truly did. He said nothing as he pulled you into his chest, wrapping his arms around you. A hand on your back and one on your head. You stood still for a moment before you began pushing on him. "NO!! I DON'T WANT A HUG!! I WANT ANSWERS DAMMIT!! WHY'D YOU LEAVE!? WHY'D YOU NEVER COME BACK!?"
You shouted, throwing the bouquet down to the ground, the paper wrinkled. You pushed against his chest, trying to pull back, but he kept his arms tight around you. Refusing to release you. You didn't want a hug, you didn't want to be comforted, but eventually, your anger melted away to nothing more but sadness. As your pushing stopped and your arms wrapped around him instead. Your body shaking with woeful sobs.
"Why'd you wait so long... till everyone was dead and gone... They're all gone, and I was all alone... For so long... I watched them all get sick. I watched them all slowly rot away into skeletons. I watched them die in my arms, and I watched them get burned in piles... why'd you leave... when I needed you most?" You said, your voice slowly getting smaller. Your body shook with tears as you sobbed into his chest, your hands pressing into his back.
He stayed silent the entire time, his eyes down on the bouquet that you threw down in your fit of rage. With a soft voice, as soft as he could get it, he spoke. "It wasn't my intentions to vanish like that... I went out, looking for food and medicine, when our oldest brother got sick... We didn't know it was from that illness... All we knew was that he fell horribly ill, so I set out to look for medicine... On my journey, I ended up wondering far, farther than I ever traveled. I was determined to find him some medication... His symptoms weren't anything I've ever seen before, so I knew that I had to search far and wide, but everyone turned me away, because they too didn't have any answers or the help I needed."
"My journey out stretched my food supply, and before I knew it, I was starved. I refused to beg, so I began eating the pests of the streets, but that wasn't a good idea because then I fell ill too... I couldn't move anymore, I was always in pain, my body slowly became frail, and I began withering away... As I was dying, I never stopped thinking about you and everyone else... I feared that I had failed you all, and I still haven't forgiven myself till this day... But in my last moments, I was saved by a man. He took me in and nursed me back to health. He fed me, clothed me, gave me a place to live, and all in exchange for his fighting technique. He needed an apprentice. He didn't want his style to die with him, so he trained me. Day and night. It was rough, cruel, and grueling."
"But I became strong, and I became powerful... Then, a man came along, named Metsudo. He took me away from my master, and he took me in, all the way in Japan... I never forgot about you all, everyday everyone burned my mind. He put me through hell, he had me kill, he made me into a monster... And the scary part is, I love it... But even though I've become the man you see today... I never forgot any of you... And once I was finally granted permission to come home, I did. I couldn't wait to see you all, hug everyone, and tell you all about my endeavors... But when I got there, the pipe was empty, and not a soul was left. Burnt piles of ash and bones sat nearby, and bodies that were either too small or too frail were left behind, wrapped in blankets within the pipe... Everyone was gone... everyone was dead.... I sat there for God knows how long, crying in that large, echoing pipe."
"But I just knew that some of you all had to survive... We were strong like that. So I set out in search, trying to grasp any leads, but I kept getting nothing. Until one day, I heard about a young woman asking for me, and in my heart, I just knew it was you... So hate me all you want. Curse me, beat me, do whatever... But I never abandoned you... I never left... And I never forgotten. But I'm not the boy I used to be, I'm a man now, and with it, a monster... I live to crush my foes, to feel their blood between my fingers, to feel their skin beneath my nails, to hear their cries of defeat in my ears... So I've come to say goodbye, forever... I just wanted you to know that I was alive and well... And I wanted to know the same for you..."
He explained, you stayed silent the entire time, listening to his tale, his side of the story... You've waited to hear this for so long now, and now that you were finally able to hear it... You felt so selfish. For years, you silently accused him of abandoning you and everyone else. You made yourself believe that he left, to survive on his own, that he went off and made a new family... But you were wrong. Your eyes burned with new tears, and your body shook with sobs. Not for yourself but for Agito. He held you silently for a moment.
"Don't cry for me... Celebrate for me instead... Your tears mean well, but they're an insult to me... For tears are for the weak, the unfortunate, and the dead, and I am neither of those things. So safe your tears, hold yourself high, and feel pride for me instead." He said. It almost sounded self-centered, almost too prideful, but they held truth... So, allowing a few more tears to escape, you calmed yourself enough to be reduced to whimpers. He hummed at your efforts, almost sounding like a purr. "Excellent." He praised. He pulled back from you, taking a step back, his hands down at his sides again.
You didn't move, your hands curling in on themselves instead. He observed you. Shoulders shaking, eyes swollen from tears, so small and fragile... You two weren't the same anymore... You two could never live in the same world again. "Take care of yourself, Y/N, and stay strong. Nobody else is going to help carry you, and nobody else is going to come to your rescue. You must be your own pillar... But you already know this. So stay strong and don't let this world break you... I expect you to live long." He said.
He sounded cold and distant but that's how he's always been. What others seen as indifference and pride. You seen as silent love and care. With a weak nod, you sniffled, your gaze still downcast. He stood there a moment longer before he turned away. "This is goodbye, Y/N... Will we ever see each other again? Perhaps, till then, farewell." He said, bidding you farewell. You refused to look up, nothing wanting to accept the parting, but as you looked down at the floor, you saw the bouquet, and the spider lilies were now making a whole lot of more sense now.
With a sadden sigh, you bent down to pick up the flowers, straightening out the paper. You held it close to your heart. It was cruel because these flowers will soon too leave you. You finally looked up, and just as you expected, he was long gone. You stood there for a long time, just staring at the hall he vanished in. Then, with one last sigh, you turned to your open door, stepping into your apartment. You began to slowly close your door, your eyes still locked on the hall. "Goodbye, Agito... Safe travels" You softly said before you closed your door and locked it.
A few months went by, and you were doing much better now. Having seen Agito, you were healed of all your worries, your 'what ifs', and now you were slowly healing from the guilt of casting unjustified blame onto Agito. You were in your home, humming a happy tune. This is the most happiness you've been. You were in your kitchen rinsing off vegetables. On the coffee table in your living room laid a plain white envelope, your name written on it in beautiful cursive.
It's been freshly opened by you, not even an hour ago. A neatly creased, open letter lay next to the envelope. It only held a few words, but they held the weight of the world to you. In plain print, it read.
"I hope you're well, Y/N... And I am doing just fine. Write me when you can, and keep me updated... I'll do my best to keep you up to date, too." - A. Next to the letter laid a fat wade of cash, all laid out, not a single crease in it. It's smelt fresh. Agito may not be in the same world as you... He may be different now, but he was still your same Agito, he was still taking care of you.
