suicide !! drank poison because he lived a sad and miserable life alone. his siblings didn't respect nor care about him, his nieces and nephews pitied him, his friends were fewer and fewer. he killed himself around the time walburga died

or: he was poisoned! by cygnus after walburga died because of property, money and/or inheritance. he thought sirius was proper disowned and the money would go to him (he could marry another woman and have sons if he had the money)
