themes in my fic that i am also undergoing in the process of writing this fic:

running away from and confronting mortifying desires--not just lust but yearning for affection, attention, physical touch, recognition, etc

struggle between instant gratification--quick but insubstantial, false, leaves one wanting more--and the hard-won satisfaction of a job well done (months of grueling work for massive payoff later)

mortal needs (sleep, hunger, getting cranky) must be addressed before we can function at our most effective

communicating and working together with others is better than suffering a burden alone
