“It’s a pity they don’t let the general public vote on the queen thing. If there was a ballot box, I’d shove it full with Siriuseses’ name.”

Location: The edge of the festival where all broody men gather to be there, but not actively take part Present: Lonnie & ??? (open)
Something was coming. He could feel it building - a kind of excited tension that found itself growing at every Death Eater meeting. He’d felt it before the last battle, but hadn’t been able to take part for, well, obvious reasons. But he’d be damned if he was left out again just because he couldn’t hold a wand.
A drink was pushed into his hand. He looked down at it, expression neutral, and lifted his gaze to the gifter. “And this?”

Location: Gazing at some flower activity. Descriptive, I know. Present: Devereaux & ??? (open)
The festival was beautiful. Colours and laughter and a sort of joy that hadn’t really been felt in a while. Yet Devereaux was wistful. “René would ‘ave loved zis.” Realising how that sounded, he quickly clarified. “‘e is not dead. ‘e is back home in France.”

it’s been a hard may’s night.
as the dawning sun’s rays illuminate the breadth of the field, chaos continues despite the rising efforts of ministry officials to regain mass composure. most of the aurors finish apprehending the muggles allegedly associated with pam and take those most suspicious in for interrogation and questioning. the rest of the muggles have scattered to the wind and far out of reach even by magical methods. those on the may court who previously felt ill are now experiencing extreme symptoms of poisoning.
“m o r s m o r d r e.”
a deep voice from within the bustle of the crowd, a death eater loosed green magic into the sky. the image of a skull and serpent illuminated every morning cloud. as gasps of surprise and fright echoed through the festival grounds. a bolt of red cut directly to the stage and struck the may queen in the chest. a flower of red blossomed against her white dress and scarred underneath was the word: BLOODTRAITOR.
a night advertised as cooperation has ended in a morning of betrayal and horror.
OOC NOTES
that’s a wrap, folks! thank you so much for enjoying this may festival event with us! it is officially over, but as always, feel free to finish the rest of your threads as they play out. the closing of this event marks a few significant changes. to begin with, pam has undergone some serious shifts in their belief, mission, and methods. please expect a followup post that is going to clarify in detail both the ‘then’ and ‘now’ of the group. additionally, it marks both the order of the phoenix attempting to be tenuous allies with pam and the instigation of a new era amongst the death eaters with harsher restriction and expectations.
mayday. mayday! M A Y D A Y.
the fires rage through the night. the crowd is distracted by dancing, drinking, and similar assorted debauchery. those bold enough even brought back the fire leaping tradition much to the ministry’s displeasure. most, especially those unable to apparate, are ready to simply collapse and sleep a wink in the field instead of facing the slogging trek back home at this hour.
however as the sun dawned on the horizon, the air grew thick with more than morning fog and dew. there was a distinct tension in the crowd as some noticed aurors and lesser law enforcement officers begin to arrest the non-magical folk in attendance. the tension quickly fades to hysteria as some make a run for it, some fight back, and some seem to have magically disappeared.
people with a keen eye might notice certain PAM members, especially those rumored to be guilty of more severe actions, are being escorted by individuals rumored to be of the order of the phoenix. those who participated in the may court seem to feel very warm in their chest and slightly dizzy. while the crowd descends into chaos, it could simply be the panic or perhaps it is something else?
OOC NOTES
to be clear: when morning came, the aurors were given strict and direct orders to collect, hold, and interrogate as many muggles believed to be associated with PAM as possible. members of the order of the phoenix were directed to help escort certain PAM members away from the scene in secret. anyone who is caught will be considered an accomplice. those who participated in the may court are experiencing a burning sensation on their arms and chest as well as dizziness and potentially nausea to varying degrees. this is an opportunity to write any escape plots, arrest plots, panic plots, or interrogation plots as well as wrap up any prior event threads. we really encourage our PAM writers to reach out to aurors and order members for more interaction during this time. please send a message to one of the admins for any questions. a conclusion to the event will be posted soon and will detail what happened to those who are arrested and interrogated. .
is it a day dream? or is it a may queen?
although a few people noted of an excess of aurors present at a peaceful festival, the recent string of attacks made such a complaint easy to brush off by most. still, the flowers were braided and fashioned into crowns. the garlands and wreaths hung proudly displayed. the may pole was left with plaited the ribbons in jovial dance. the mead continued to flow as the sun sank low on the horizon. it was time to crown the may queen.
traditionally, the may queen would lead a parade, but as the ministry wanted everyone to remain on the fairgrounds, and no one could quite agree on what vehicles were appropriate given the presence of their guests, they agreed that practice seemed rather silly. instead, the may queen would simply ceremoniously commence the festivities of fire night.
those on the may court consist of:
antigone graves
auden reyes
clio ashford
cordelia greengrass
emmeline vance
gilderoy lockhart
indiana mckinley
isabella fawley
lydia altman
mina kang
pandora rosier
parker davies
sophie moody
sybill trelawney
the court is gathered to the makeshift stage. as each name is recognized with polite applause, they are given a bouquet of their favorite flowers. a small, unassuming ministry official gives a speech regarding the unexpected knowledge that can be learned from an event such as this before presenting a floral crown and torch to: AUDEN REYES, the may queen.
with the torch, she sets ablaze the largest and most grand bonfire next to the stage. quickly, other flames begin to burn and brightly light up the entire field. fire night has now begun! people are meant to drink, dance, and revel without a care in the world until the sun rises. perhaps they might even find themselves brave enough to jump over the embers, but the ministry discourages this ancient tradition. be careful not to get burned!
OOC NOTES
thank you to everyone who submitted someone onto the may court. we love seeing all the entries! a randomizer was used to decide the queen. now, we’ve moved forward to the evening activities of the holiday! feel free to indulge in the more adult favored drink, dance, and debauchery of all variety! this portion of the event will run from may 7th to may 14th may 19th. if your character is an auror, please contact one of the admins. any character who is a member of the order of the phoenix will perhaps notice hushed information regarding pam passing along their ranks.
it is just a spring clean for the may queen.
this ancient holiday goes by many names. whether called beltane, calan mai, walpurgis night, floralia, or what has simply come to be known as may day, the midway point between the spring equinox and the summer solstice has always been celebrated with flowers and with fire by magic and muggle alike. the ministry of magic, in an attempt to bridge cooperation between all warring factions, has resurrected a long retired festival for all to attend!
the fair grounds are covered with wild flowers to be plucked and scavenged. there are tents set up in a wide ranging perimeter that hosts garland braiding, floral arranging, crown weaving, and crafting may baskets. ribbons have been spread around to make may bushes. instruments drift by on the breeze enchanted to play sprightly melodies, and a large may pole stands with fabric billowing in shades of purple, orange, blue, green, red, and yellow. unlit bonfires are scattered through the pasture. there is a small stage next to the largest collection of fire wood for performances and to host the may queen and court.
everyone is encouraged to come and participate together. walk barefoot in the dewy grass and welcome the warm weather with dancing and merriment.
OOC NOTES
