There was no mistaking it, it was the hand carved stone bluejay necklace that her second teacher had given to her during the holidays. Janna had never really been one to wear necklaces, so she gifted to her friend.
A shaky hand reached out towards the threads hanging out of Talon’s closed hands, almost not registering his reply. Jay…still carried it with her? Janna had thought it was gone forever, lost and discarded in some street corner since Jay- or Jinx now, seemed to prefer wearing bullets as accessories. It wasn’t lost, it was still here…and covered in blood.
Blood?
Her heart raced. Wasn’t there a shootout with the police a few days ago? Caitlyn had appeared on the television to calm the public, but she looked quite irked about something, presumably about the perpetrator, a certain blue haired girl escaping again after leaving behind a huge destructive scene. Why were his hands bloody as well? Could the government have gotten so fed up they sent an assassin to take her out?
Janna swallowed. “Y-you say you found it? Where? Did you see the owner?”
“Alleyway down that way.” Talon’s gesture was deliberately vague, encompassing an area large enough to be unhelpful while still giving the appearance of answering Janna’s question. His curiosity had been perked by how shaken Janna was by the sight of the necklace. Did it belong to someone she knew? If so, she wasn’t going to like his next few words. “Didn’t see the owner. It was in a puddle of blood.” And Talon, child of Noxus that he was, had stopped to check if the blood was an interesting type that Vlad might appreciate. A quick swipe of his fingers through the blood, a sniff and a delicate lick had confirmed that it was just normal human blood. It was nothing that Vlad couldn’t get on his own, so Talon had picked up the necklace out of his habitual desire to never pass up something that could be useful and continued on his way. The thought of checking to see who it was that had been so injured never crossed Talon’s mind. “There was a trail though. Could probably track down the owner, if you wanted.” Janna was a public figure. She’d be able to pay Talon’s fees - or even better, owe him a favor. Having a healer in your debt could be very useful.
