TEMP PINNED POST!

Until I get this blog fully organized, here’s a more basic pinned! My main is @justsomeskullkid.

This is an AU where the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are not teenaged, not mutants, and not turtles. They're actually still teens but they're adult teens. So really they're Adult Human Ninja Humans. Other than that, I try to keep the main info the same as in 2012. The backstory is the same, the main plot of the show is translated as closely as possible to a human-only world, etc. Some key changes do have to be made that will be explained eventually (I don't have the Shredder stuff fully developed yet soooo)

Most of the plot is currently in an ongoing fanfiction series! The series is a bit more angsty/heavy, so this blog will mostly be for the cuter, more light-hearted stuff I wanna do with these characters.

Character guide:

Most of the main characters have the same names, same relation, and same dynamics. The four hamato brothers are still the adopted children of hamato yoshi and Miwa is still his biological daughter who gets kidnapped and raised as Karai by his brother, Oroku Saki. April and Casey are still their close friends.

The main story takes place after the end of the show (though those events are a bit different), so the teenage characters who start the show around 15 years old are now 19-20. Their human designs will be under the cut.

Notable name/dynamic changes are:

Hamato Yoshi does still go by Master Splinter as his sort of sensei name, but between friends he often goes by Yoshi (he’s only Splinter to people he’s teaching/has taught)

Leatherhead does go by Leatherhead but his legal name is Jae-Min Cha. He is the same age as the hamato brothers due to there being no weird Kraang dimension to age him up.

Slash does go by Slash but his legal name is Spike Feldman. He is similar in age to Yoshi and they are good friends. He helped raise the Hamato children and they call him Uncle Spike. He lives with Tyler Rockwell, his roommate and um... life-partner. They're kind of cagey about that.

Dr. Rockwell is a scientist who was forced to quit his profession after his ME/CFS worsened and made him unable to work due to heavy brain fog and memory problems. He now lives with Slash full-time both for disability support and because they love each other

Mondo Gecko goes by Mondo occasionally but it was sort of an...ahem....transition nickname for them. They didn't like their birth name and decided to go by the silly nickname their friends called them, Mondo, until they found a new one. That new name is Amanda, and she also coincidentally decided to change her gender. Her full name is now Amanda Ginko and she is the boys' same age. She is best friends with Mikey and later on will get um.....closer with Leo :)

Ice Cream Kitty is a pretty little calico that Mikey found in an alley one day and decided to adopt! Her name is Gelati and Mikey calls her Lati/Lottie! I know she was mostly orange before her mutation in the show but I thought it'd be cuter to make her fur mimic her neapolitan mutant form.

Shredder mostly goes by Oroku Saki, "Shredder" being mostly a criminal alias he uses. He's a part of Japanese organized crime and still has a huge vendetta against Splinter. He still kidnaps Miwa and raises her as Karai, but he doesn't always wear the Kuro Kabuto and is instead a more normal crime lord. He eventually moves to America temporarily to hunt down Yoshi and that's when the main plot of the show happens, but much more grounded. Saki is still batshit insane but not quite sacrificing the entire Earth just to kill Yoshi insane.

Mona Lisa is...complicated. I like the name Y'Gythgba but I'm not sure how to incorporate that as her real name as it's an alien name. TBD!!! She also has vitiligo to mimic the little spots she has on her head in the show!

Casey's dad is Arnold Jones but his backstory/personality is very made up, and his sister is currently unnamed (I have a few options I'm stuck on). She is around 5 years younger than him. His mother is Cecilia Jones and she passed when he was around 10.

[Human designs, sexualities, ships, and ethnicity info below!]

AU-canon genders, sexualities and ships:

Leo is a trans man, bisexual with a preference for women, and will end up with Amanda. Amanda is a trans woman, heterosexual, and will end up with Leo.

Donnie is cis (but dubiously so. like a he/they very slowly making their way to they/them), bisexual with a preference for men, and will end up with Casey. Casey is a trans man, pansexual, and will end up with Donnie.

Raph is androgyne (he/she), straight for women, and will end up with Mona. Mona Lisa is cishet and will end up with Raph.

Mikey is cis and GNC, has an unlabeled sexuality, is non-SAM aromantic, and will end up with Jae/Leatherhead. Leatherhead is cis, gay, and will end up with Mikey.

April is cis, a lesbian, and will end up with Karai. Karai is cis, GNC, a lesbian, and will end up with April.

Spike and Tyler are both cis and gay and will end up together.

Shen, Yoshi, and Saki are/were all cishet.

AU ethnicity information:

Yoshi, Shen, Saki, and Karai are all Japanese and were born and raised in Japan.

Leo, Donnie, Raph, and Mikey are all black and culturally Japanese-American. (They're not all related, meaning some of them might be slightly different ethnically. Mikey may be mixed. I'm not sure though don't quote me on that)

Mona Lisa is black and was a military kid, meaning she's American but was raised in multiple different countries as her family moved so she's not too immersed in American culture

April, Slash, and Rockwell are all white. April is Irish, Slash is Ashkenazi Jewish, and Rockwell is... idk vaguely European.

Casey is um.........uh.............................I dunno...............either white (Italian), half Puerto Rican on his mom's side, or half Filipino on his mom's side (his dad is white no matter what though). I dunno. It's only really important because I still need to choose his sister's name and I want her name to reflect he mom's heritage

Leatherhead is Korean and a first generation immigrant. Amanda is half Japanese and half white (Russian) and a third-generation Japanese immigrant (possibly a second generation Russian immigrant? I'm not sure yet).
