Ahoy Mateys!

Today is the 23rd annual International Talk Like a Pirate Day! The idea was brewed by a couple of buddies in 1995 on the racquetball court, and really caught wind in it’s sails when humorist Dave Barry wrote about it in 2002. Now, it’s a real thing so don’t be surprised by what you might hear while waiting in line at Starbucks today. And if you want to join in the fun, here are a few things you can say.

* Avast ye! Look at this! * Heave Ho! Give it a strong effort. * Shiver me timbers! Oh my gosh! * Landlubber! Someone who has not caught on to the theme of the day. * Old Salt! Someone who has joined in the fun of the day. * Scurvy Dog! Something to whisper under your breath if someone cuts you off in traffic.
