⇛ BACKGROUND !!

born and raised a preacher’s son , milo was taught from a young age that when the world were to end , it was GOD’S WILL and there was nothing to do beyond accept that fact . it wasn’t until he was sixteen years old that he’d started to realize he didn’t quite agree with that fact , though that was something he opted to hide from his family .

it was at that time devastation was beginning to become clear across the world and milo’s father did nothing beyond gather his followers in a cult like fashion and tell them ti pray .

with that in the back of his pocket , milo left his family compound the day after he graduated high school , deciding he wanted to go into a field that his father would frown upon --- medicine , because helping people as the world got bad sounded like a better option rather than sitting on his ass and praying .

speed up a bit , milo graduated from med school in the top ten of his class and was accepted into a prestigious hospital where he would begin his rotation ---- eventually beginning his focus on surgery where he seemingly excelled.

fast forward once more to the drawing . devastated in a sense , with so many patients left in wait ---- milo boarded the ship with the intention of simply being there to help where needed . the crash ? prompted his skills and he was soon thrust into his skillset once again by saving the lives of those that made it .

impressed with his work , he was soon promoted to head medic by the council .

⇛ PERSONALITY !!

milo is a troubled god fearing man who hears the sound of his father’s voice warning him that the world will end no matter what --- simply because god wills it that way .

kind hearted by nature , he longs to help those in need and can be seen as a bit of a worrywart .

unlike many doctors in his field , milo is known for his bedside manner , a kind smile could go a long way , whether it is in the face of horrific news or not .

even though he stepped away from his father’s upbringing / religion , he is still a religious man and questions their place on eden often .

milo stands at about 6′1 , but has a bit of a slouch from being hovered over patients for long periods of time.

alright now on to the fun details. alexander daniel reyes was born in brooklyn, nyc (yes his accent is noticeable) and is the second child of four. he had a really difficult childhood and everybody in the family did their best to keep everybody else fed and healthy. it didn’t always work out that way.

his greatest strength was school and learning; he picked up on things really quickly. unfortunately it wasn’t a very practical strength to have given his family’s situation and that, combined with his overwhelming compassion and empathy for other people, made him more of a hindrance than a help. nobody felt bad letting him know that, either.

he tried his best he really truly did. baby alex spent his childhood feeling terrible 99% of the time.

bUT. he got out of the house and into med school and his older sister and her husband welcomed him into their home to lessen the burden on their parents and little siblings. in return he became a live-in babysitter of sorts as the kids came. that was by far the happiest period of his life.

he got his doctorate and immediately got to work as an attending physician in the emergency room of his closest hospital and that was exhausting. especially as the state of the world and society got worse and worse; violence, illness, and starvation had a constant flood of people showing up begging for help. again, he did his very best to help as much as he could.

his sister and her husband ended up getting really sick close to the end; despite his job they had little money to pay for food as prices skyrocketed and living in the city severely limited what they could grow themselves. by the time he was selected to be taken to eden only his niece was well enough to make the trip. leaving everybody behind was the hardest thing he’d ever had to do, but if he could save at least one family member then it was worth it. besides, he figured his skills and knowledge could come in handy somehow.

his niece didn’t survive the crash and that has been plaguing his mind ever since. he felt she was his responsibility and her death keeps him awake at night. the guilt never leaves and he keeps himself as busy as possible to ignore it when he can. 

personality-wise he’s an absolute sweetheart?? he would give a stranger the shirt of his back. he’s great with patients, a very gentle presence around camp, and is happy to lend a helping hand wherever he can. he is very skilled at origami and every time he treats a kid he makes them a special little creature to take with them.

that being said he’s prone to severely overworking himself and in tense situations if he believes he’s right he won’t back down. he also sees the best in people and it’s relatively easy to take advantage of him.

manon eloise rourke, for the most part, was content to live an unremarkable life 

she was working as a nurse at a hospital and running a successful side business as a naturopath, steadily dating a coworker and could not expect the impending end of the world, still clinging onto optimism and hope 

that quickly changed 

in a flash her parents were gone, and the world was in ruin. with nothing to keep her on earth she did everything she could to have her name drawn for the lottery 

by the time she found herself in a hibernation pos the girl who had loved optimism no longer existed. in her place was a woman who isolated herself from the world and cared only for herself 

after eden

when manon awoke she resolved herself to never let naivety or hope get the best of her again. 

she quickly got to work as a medic in the camp and kept her head down, focused primarily on her own survival 

she also spent her time learning about the new plants on eden and began making natural medicines for the community

but one night of lowered inhibitions and homemade alcohol saw a wrench thrown in her plans 

as a medical professional she knew the signs, she was pregnant 

and suddenly her whole world was upside down, on top of having to survive she would now have to provide for another life in a brave new world

she hasn’t told anyone it hasn’t been long since she’s found out

born & raised in columbus, ohio, to parents that were ----- well, safe to say they were the STRICT kind. a father that spent almost twenty years serving in the army, expected his children to be the very best ! the smartest in class, the fastest on the sports team, children he could parade around like TROPHIES. their mother? well, she agreed with whatever the man of the household said, and pushed her children just as much as their opposing parent.

eugene spent a good chunk of his childhood either trying to please his father or  competing against his older brother for their father's affection. the mars family are a naturally competitive species, but eugene struggled to keep up to the exceptions that hovered over his head. he tried, he swears he did, he got straight A’s, he was the most talented on his highschool basketball team, was worthy of a scholarship to ivy league, but nothing seemed to SATISFY ---- you see, in his father’s eyes? eugene was too soft, too eager, carried too much WEAKNESS for a mars man.

eugene was always the target of his father’s frustration, but despite that, eugene always had a crowd of friends surrounding him --- benevolent, generous, charismatic, eugene is the type of person that draws people close to him naturally ; he carries his heart on his sleeve & warmth in his soul. which, much to his family’s disapproval, was always his downfall.

for eugene’s 18th birthday, his father gives him an application for the army as his present and tells him if he doesn’t do what he’s told, he’s disowned. eugene, not liking the fact he’s let someone down or caused someone to detest himself, agrees without protest ----- despite the FEAR over the thought of being trained to hurt, maim, kill.

he hates the army, hates being a soldier, he hates carrying a weapon, or the thought of hurting another living being -- he spends the first few months with his stomach in knots & a serious case of homesickness, but maybe he’ll harden up, maybe he’ll earn his father’s respect, maybe he’ll come home a HERO. 

he just doesn’t realise the path to heroism, is paved with more than just using a gentle touch to persuade his enemies. it’s stained with blood, and when he takes his first life? he chokes, gets hit on the battlefield, and takes damage to his left ear -- causing permanent hearing loss.

he’s discharged, and now he returns home broken, a failure. his father can barely look at him, his mother does what she can to tend to her son but not at the risk of angering her husband, eugene hits a new low -- the boy full of smiles & warmth, grows cold. 

EUGENE MARS ---- his name gets drawn in the lottery & there’s a spark of life that reappears. a chance to start anew ! despite the years of hardship that his father has given him, eugene offers his plus-one position to his parents first out of respect --- but his father figures it’s a HOAX ; there’s nothing out there for anyone, he says, we might as well die here. eugene is optimistic, nurses HOPE like it’s oxygen & he’s a drowning man. he has no one else: he hasn’t married - he has no children, because he’s been too busy fighting wars & defending his country, but he DOES have his siblings. and despite the fact him and his older brother haven’t talked in years, let alone mended their estranged relationship, he can’t leave him behind, nor his sister. 

now? eugene is the happiest he’s ever been. he grieved for his parents, sure, but the air is fresher, the days seem brighter, and he feels #BLESSED to be here, folks !

also medics  .  .  .this boy hurts himself aLOT. he trips over invisible rocks & manages to dislocate his arm just by leaning on s/t. so maybe someone that he goes to in this circumstances because he’s too embarrassed to go to the infirmary after the first 100 times it happens??

adopted at the age of seven liliana had always been very thankful for those who had given her safety from the start.  her fathers jacob and nathaniel had taken her and her brother in when her parents didn’t care for her unlike most she had settled into her parents home very quickly she had always craved the feeling of being wanted and loved. she can be known to be protective over her family and espeically her younger brother who’s always in a lot of trouble doing drugs etc she decided to become a security guard tbh to keep an eye on him but she overall loves it?? liliana enjoys the late nights and talking with other security guards that are on the same shift and will often bore other’s with the most useless facts she doesn’t mind at all ending parties and being known as a party pooper or a strict security guard if it means keeping the place that had kept her safe for years in favour of paying it back. one day she hopes that she can run as a council member and to continue to make her parents proud after all they have given her which is safety and education.
