"I was on a very low budget shoot, for another production company, and I had to bump up one of my very experienced PAs to the 1st AD position. It was a 5 day shoot and the PA was just running ragged as the 1st AD…doing all sorts of things: jumping in, helping out every department wherever he could and ADing and managing the DP. I finally had to step in and tell him, ‘You need to...you know, don’t wear yourself out. You’re going to over extend yourself…’ He turns to me and said, ‘You know what…no. I want to be just like that AD on the Sugar/HEB jobs.’ He said, ‘He jumps in wherever…nothing is beneath him. He does whatever it takes to get the job done.
