Wanderlust of AHUPE GHAT
A day before the Independance Day in 2022 (14/08/2022, Sunday), we 4 friends explored the AHUPE GHAT in our usual TTMM (all expenses & responsibilities on your own and non-commercial) way.
The trekking spot is always new and is not a place that anyone of us has visited before. So it is brand new trekking experience for all of us.
There is a river-like stream, quite forceful in the rains, to cross before the Ahupe Ghat trek route starts.
The route is entire uphill and steep. And most important slippery during the monsoon. As one climbs up, the trek route crisscrosses the waterfall's path.

HOW DID WE GO?
Base railway station: Kalyan.
Base village: Khopivali.
Route: Train from Dadar to Kalyan > ST Bus to Murbad > shared jeep to Mhasa > shared jeep to Khopivali > trek from base village, Khopivali to Ahupe ghat > backtrack to Khopivali > walk 1 km to Dehari > ST bus from Dehari to Murbad > ST bus from Murbad to Kalyan > Train from Kalyan to Dadar.
Top tip: There is no bus service on Sunday from Khopivali to Mhasa/ Murbad/ Kalyan. Walk 1 km ahead towards Siddhagad/ Gorakhgad to Dehari from Khopivali. The last bus from Dehari to Murbad is at 7 pm. Do not miss it.
Hiring a guide is always is beneficial, as it saves time and the safest route is taken.
TIME LINE:
04:30 wake up.
05:30 start from home.
06:30 boarded the train.
07:15 reach base railway station & alight from the train.
07:30 boarded the ST bus from Kalyan.
08:30 alight from the bus at Murbad.
09:00 finish breakfast.
09:30 shared jeep from Murbad to Mhasa.
10:00 shared jeep from Mhasa to Khopivali.
10:30 trek starts from Khopivali.
14:30 reach the top of Ahupe Ghat (4 hours to climb up).
The top of Ahupe Ghat is a flat plateau, with fenced border.
15:00 finish lunch & sightseeing & return journey starts.
18:30 reach down at Khopivali.
19:00 walk from Khopivali to Dehari.
19:15 to 20:00 bus from Dehari to Murbad.
20:00 to 21:00 bus from Murbad to Kalyan.
22:45 train reaches Dadar, that was boarded from Kalyan.
23:45 home sweet home.
