(I’m imagining that Aang had some pokemon pre-iceberg, and picked up some on his travels with the Gaang)
Kabuto - Discovered in the remains of the Southern Air Temple, this long-lived pokemon saw the horrors of Sozin’s Culling, and felt an immediate connection to Aang. They’re the last of a dying society. (Post-berg)
Butterfree - Often used as a symbol of enlightenment, Butterfrees are respected by air nomads for demonstrating the effects of spirituality, even the lowest Caterpie, after deep insightful meditation as a Metapod, can achieve enlightenment and emerge as a Butterfree. (Pre-berg)
Paras - Another pokemon respected by the air nomads, primarily for representing balance; in this case, between the fungi and the fauna that come together to make the whole that is Paras. (Pre-berg)
Ghastly - A mischievous spirit, this pokemon encourages Aang to pull pranks and to simply have a good time! (Post-berg)
Abra - Aang saved this little guy from bandits who wanted to capture it and force it to evolve into a weapon of psychic destruction. Aang recognized the spirit of airbending within it as it teleported from spot-to-spot as the bandits tried to capture it. (Post-berg)
Pidgeot - Aang’s first pokemon. Raised from a Pidgey that Monk Gyatso had Aang nurse back to health when he was younger in order to teach him responsibility, kindness, and compassion. Originally, Aang was supposed to let it free after it was fully-healed, but Aang couldn’t bear to let it go, as the bond formed between them was too strong. (Pre-berg)
