Congress CWC to Chart Strategy, Finalize Poll Plans Ahead of AICC Session
On the eve of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) session, the Congress Working Committee (CWC) will hold a crucial meeting in Ahmedabad on Tuesday to discuss the party’s future direction, key national concerns, internal reforms, and strategies for upcoming elections.
The extended CWC meeting will bring together over 170 participants, including CWC members, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) presidents, parliamentary leaders, Central Election Committee (CEC) members, former chief ministers and deputy chief ministers, as well as senior office-bearers.
The session will take place at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Memorial, a symbolic venue considering the historic legacy of the Congress in Gujarat, the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Patel.
Insiders suggest the meeting will focus on several internal reforms, including empowering district-level leadership, improving grassroots accountability, and reinvigorating the party’s organisational structure. The CWC is also expected to review and approve key resolutions to be introduced during the AICC plenary.
With several state elections scheduled later this year and in 2026, the Congress leadership aims to lock in a clear poll strategy. The roadmap will cover campaign planning, alliance-building, voter outreach, and messaging centered around social justice and economic development.
The upcoming AICC conclave on April 9 has been themed "Nyaypath: Sankalp, Samarpan aur Sangharsh" (Path of Justice: Resolve, Dedication and Struggle). It will be held on the scenic banks of the Sabarmati river, between the Sabarmati Ashram and Kochrab Ashram — sites rich in Congress history.
Over 1,700 elected and nominated AICC members are expected to attend the session. A dedicated drafting committee has been working on the resolutions to be presented.
This year’s event is also steeped in historical significance as it commemorates 100 years since Mahatma Gandhi’s presidency of the party and the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
The Ahmedabad session will mark the Congress’ sixth such gathering in Gujarat — and the third in Ahmedabad — reaffirming the party’s deep-rooted association with the state.
