I created a fake video of Colin Firth in 6 minutes using AI that I had never used before. Romance scammers are using the same technology right now — and it cost Americans $1.16 BILLION in just 9 months.

Google and Universal Music discuss 'deep-fake' AI music.
Google and Universal Music Group are in discussions about licensing agreements for the creation of 'deepfake' AI music.
The aim is to develop a platform that enables music enthusiasts to produce AI-generated music while paying copyright owners, giving artists the option to participate or not. Similarly, Warner Music is also in talks with Google regarding the production of AI music.
To make this possible, the companies will need to acquire licenses for both the voices of artists and their songs. This will allow people to legally use them to create AI tracks.
The ultimate objective is to create a platform where music fans can produce AI music and pay the copyright owners while artists can choose whether or not to participate. Earlier this year, Universal urged streaming platforms to block AI companies from accessing music from their artists' back catalogs, as some AI services had been trained on copyrighted music.
Meanwhile, Warner Music's CEO, Robert Kyncl, reportedly informed investors that, with the correct framework, fans could "pay their heroes the ultimate compliment" by using AI-generated music. In recent times, deepfake AI music has gained immense popularity online. For instance, Heart on My Sleeve, a song featuring AI-trained vocals from Drake and The Weeknd, went viral on TikTok with 15 million views in under 48 hours. Drake himself has been critical of deep-fake AI music.
Universal Music Group represents both Drake and The Weeknd and contacted all parties involved, stating that they "will not hesitate to take steps to protect our rights and those of our artists." As a result, the song was removed from platforms like Spotify and YouTube.
