I want to post my notes but I’m scared they’re not good enough for ~studyblr~
They’re for linguistics in general, German, English, French, and Spanish -- I’m proud of them but still it’s daunting because they’re not super uwu aesthetic

1YearOfLangs Day 8
Duolingo progress is very small, but I feel confident with what I’ve learned so far. “Mi pasaporte está aquí.” I do need to learn the keyboard shortcuts for Spanish accents though.
Lo siento (1YearOfLangs Day 7)
“I’m sorry” seems a fitting title here, as I want to apologize to myself for not being super on top of the challenge. However, I’ve been doing a little bit each day in my own way. I went to a secondhand bookstore and bought a few really useful Spanish books for reference once I start class in 6 days. I also got the first Harry Potter book in Spanish as a goal to work towards! I know I’ll be proud of myself when I can finally read through it hopefully by the end of 2020, and it should be easy because I already know the (English) book well.
So that’s what I’ve been up to! I think Duo is a bit pissed at me for skipping a few days of Duolingo, but he doesn’t work retail so what does he know about fatigue.
Hola! (1YearOfLangs Days 1 + 2)
I worked a 9 hour shift New Years Day and effectively missed my chance to start in on the Year of Langs challenge -- that, and the fact that it doesn’t feel like it’s really 2020 already. But I'm here now!
I’m starting Spanish as a complete beginner, but I decided to make a list of vocabulary I know off the top of my head as a baseline. My mom did Peace Corps in Panama, and when I was younger she still spoke Spanish around the house a bit and I picked up some basic words.
hola -- hello
adios -- goodbye
amigo -- friend
uno, dos, tres, cuatro, cinco, seis, seite, ocho, nueve, diez -- numbers 1-10 (I did have to look up how to spell cuatro)
vamos, vamonos -- let's go (I'm aware they differ slightly in meaning)
por favor -- please
siéntate -- sit down (as a command I believe)
agua -- water
Español -- the Spanish language
mi casa es tu casa -- my house is your house
poquito -- just a little
hablar -- to speak
Don't laugh! I'm sure there's a few more that aren't coming to mind right now, but there's my Day 2. I'm going to start Spanish on Duolingo today as well.
