He had come to the same storefront a few times now and was sure the proprietor had seen him and wondered why he was milling about not doing anything in particular. In reality he was trying to get some shopping done.
But there wasn’t much he could divine other than the place sold produce, some of it was displayed outside, and the rest was inside. Much was lost on him due to the fact he couldn’t perceive anything written. Gyomei wasn’t eager to make himself look like a fool. Just standing around seemed to accomplish that however, so he never lingered for too long.
The next time he passed by there was someone else already browsing. Gyomei only hesitated a brief moment before approaching them.
“Excuse me,” he said in a low voice, already having started crying, “is there any chance you might be able to help me? I’m not able to read any signs showing what’s being sold or for how much...” Gyomei’s quiet voice often made it sound as if he was trailing off at the end of sentences.
