Japan will allocate $37 million to the NATO fund as additional aid to Ukraine. According to the statement of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Yoko Kamikawa, the funds will be directed to the purchase of anti-drone systems. Japanese Foreign Minister arrived in Kyiv on the morning of Jan. 7, 2024, becoming the first foreign official guest to Ukraine this year.
“Japan is determined to support Ukraine so that peace can return to Ukraine,” Kamikawa said during the meeting with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba. Her visit took place during an escalation of attacks on both sides of the conflict. “I once again strongly condemn Russia’s missile and drone attacks, particularly on New Year’s Day,” said Kamikawa.
The Embassy of Japan in Ukraine shared photos of Kamikawa shortly after her arrival visiting Irpin and Bucha in Kyiv Region.
