Monday - regular class

Aikido does not claim absolute control. Knowing the point where you have the greatest mechanical advantage is not enough. And sometimes, you just don't apply the technique "perfectly". You're standing too far out, your arms are bent, or uke is really really strong.* So, we practiced ikkyo where uke stands back up again. We let them, by making a tenkan turn out of the way and picking up a sankyo grip. Coming back home to good brainmelts at the dojo? Almost a reason to go away more often! * I mean, have you met my brother? He swings about a three meter steel pike all day at work like it's made of balsa wood. For the past decade. Trying to do nikkyo on him would be a lost cause. Ikkyo might not be so smart either. I suppose I'd start with irimi nage or maybe tickling.
