Are titles also fonts or are they seperate graphic design? Cuz my friend told me the yakuza title is a font called edo something. But like things like Fullmetal Alchemist or Dragon Ball Z or Avatar the Last Airbender. Did the creators use fonts?

oh!! good question.

it depends, really... some things are just design. sometimes the creator composed an entire alphabetical typeface to go along with it, depending on whether or not they want to use it for anything other than the title. so, yes and no!

for example, Dishonored. the title/logo:

this is just the logo, so it’s probably not a separate font created. the designer probably did what a lot of us do: take a typeface and use it as a base.

this looks a lot like Trajan, edited with some gothic touches and adjustments to letter and stroke width. the “N” looks wider in the logo, among other letters that have some minute differences.
