FEATURED ARTIST: Jacolby Satterwhite's multi-disciplinary work explores themes of memory, desire, ritual, and heroism, and is often inspired by his mother’s drawings, schematic diagrams, and recordings. The artist utilizes his body as a site to re-perform private, domestic narratives--along with his own responses to pop culture, art and political histories--in a queered and virtual environment. For live performances, Jacolby takes on the persona of his 3D animated avatar to expand and blur the boundaries between video and live action. Satterwhite lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. He has had recent solo exhibitions at Mallorca Landings, Mallora, SP (2013) and Monye Rowe Gallery, New York (2013), and is currently featured in “Bronx Calling: The Second AIM Biennial” at The Bronx Museum of the Arts.
