Okay, angsty carterdoux hc yes!
Carter canonically has undiagnosed bipolar disorder and paranoia. His bipolar has gone undiagnosed largely bc his symptoms tend to exhibit in the form of his "divine rage" (similarly to how Harley's epileptic seizures can both be caused and effected by his powers/divine magic).
Douxie, while not knowing the exact cause, definitely knows there's always been something a bit off with Carter. He can quite literally feel Carter’s emotions, read his thoughts, there is not any part of them that is kept secret from each other. At least, not for long and not without really trying to hide it... (ahem, Douxie hiding the fact that hes half fae from Carter for well over 80+ years)
Douxie knows Carter deals with chronic depression and bad mental health. He struggles, but Douxie has always been there for him, to support him. And he thought they were doing well.
Douxie is, also, chronically depressed and like Carter, has an anxiety issue. Hes used to dealing with these things, and doesn't actually realize how much further and deeper Carter’s mental illnesses go... bc his bipolar isnt from his father, its from his mother. It's something genetic in his mortal blood.
It's something neither of them realize is there yet. And will only realize what it is when something truly, horrifically, tragic happens to them some time in the near future in hbah... 👀
