I've gotta be real with you guys because I DID NOT workout during this trip outside of @workoutbean's SoulCycle class and I did not feel guilty one bit! That in itself is a non scale victory! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When I first started my fitness journey I was so focused on creating the time and space to exercise, which is awesome. But there came moments in my journey when I was obsessed with my meal prepping and my exercise plan. It was to the point where I would choose a workout session over spending time with friends or bringing my prepped meals to a restaurant. Yes I was dedicated, but looking back now those behaviors were borderline orthorexia, a condition in that includes symptoms of obsessive behavior in the pursuit of a healthy diet. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We all have a common goal to live a healthy and happy life. In the past year I've been trying to figure out what that looks like for me especially in 2017 since life has changed so much. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As I'm figuring all of the things out here's what I learned: 1. Counting memories has been so much more fulfilling in my life than counting macros. 2. I've become so much more aware of my body's needs when it comes to movement rather than pressuring myself to exercise like a gym rat. 3. Happiness can never be measured by the percentage of your body fat. 4. My "why" I decided to get in shape in the first place has become more validated by the life experiences and personal growth I've made in the past few years. 5. Fitness is not about the perfect body, it's about building confidence, finding inner strength, and overcoming your fears. Fitness will always be a continuous evolution of discovering who you are meant to be. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Thank you everyone for giving me the space to be vulnerable, honest, and helping me to embrace my imperfections. #aimforprogressnotperfection (at Ace Hotel New York)
