Qatar is not getting an air base in Idaho.
They are coming to train their air forces at a base that already exists in Idaho that is commonly used for training, and has hosted foreign air forces before. Our government gave them a bunch of F-15’s so they’re coming to learn how to fly them. Specific facilities are being built ON the property of the base that already exists to serve this training function.
On top of that, this plan isn’t new. Trump and Hegseth didn’t come up with it out of the blue; it’s been in the works for several years. It’s also nowhere near unprecedented. We host foreign militaries all the time, and have built facilities to host them on bases in the past.
