Airend was a noble bug in the City of Tears while the radiance was still locked away. During this time, they stumbled across this Colosseum of Fools and was enthralled with the warriors. They set out to become a powerful and mighty warrior themselves. They had the will to fight and everything. The problem was, they lacked EVERYTHING else needed to fight. Around this time the radiance began seeping out and infecting those with weaker wills. Thanks to Airend's abnormally high will power, they were able to resist the corruption. However Airend heard rumors of the one of the strongest warriors using the radiance to become even stronger, this being one of the mantis lords.
Wanting to become stronger themselves they attempted to do the same. Once this was done, they instantly knew it was a mistake and tried to fight it off. They could stop the infection from corrupting them further, but not undo what was already done. They now seek out ways to fix their mistake and rid themselves of the radiance, often hearing rumors throughout Hallownest of varies places or people that might help. Traveling Hallownest is an ever increasing dangerous task however. To survive the threats awaiting them, Airend has to allow more of the radiance to take over so they can become stronger. However the more it takes over the more corrupted their mind becomes and weaker their will gets. Making stopping the corruption from spreading in the future a harder task. Their goal is to find a way to stop the radiance from taking them over completely, but how much of their original self will be left as each answer they find, only seems to lead them further into the dangerous depth of Hallownest
