Southwest Airlines Baggage Policy
The following rules apply to carry-on bags only. All checked baggage fees are included in the ticket price.
• Carry-On Bags
Carry-on bags may not exceed 45 pounds (20 kg) in total weight or dimensions of any kind.
• Hand Luggage
Hand luggage may not exceed 22 inches (55 cm) in length, width, or height.
• Oversized Items
Oversize items are defined as anything larger than the size allowed under the above guidelines. Oversized items include, but are not limited to, golf clubs, bicycles, surfboards, skis, snowboards, kayaks, canoes, motorcycles, scooters, motorbikes, skateboards, rollerblades, wetsuits, snorkels, diving equipment, fishing gear, camping equipment, musical instruments, sports equipment, and similar items.
• Excess Weight
Excess weight is defined as anything over the maximum allowable weight plus the weight of the passenger.
• Checked Baggage
Checked baggage may not exceed 50 pounds (23 kg).
