If you are considering building a micro ATX computer think twice before buying the Cooler Master Q300 or the Master Box Lite 3.1
The Lite 3.1 inherited the same airflow problems the Cooler Master Box Lite 5 shipped with. Awful airflow, which made a lot of peoples systems overheat and force us to take action with power tools or removing the front panel completely! The Q300 series came with an almost completely perforated body and I theory should have made things much better. But did it?
In my testing I have confirmed that any heat load in excess of 250watts of power the system just cant get rid of the built up heat. It's like being in a hot car with the windows open a tiny bit. Not good. If you are using slightly older and less efficient hardware, beware, there might be a problem. I tested with a Ryzen 3 2200G slightly overclocked (as most user will) with a older GTX 780 again some budget minded builders will try and get some gaming ability with these older cards. The 7870, the 7900 series 760's etc all can handle most modern games at lower settings and make a good choice for builders on a budget considering current graphics card pricing! Most if not all of these cards will put out anywhere between 150 to 250 watts under load, and that level of heat can be difficult to manage even in the most high flow of chassis. So in summary these cases are fine for modest builds or when using modern efficient components. But if you are considering rebuilding your older hardware into a modern chassis. Look elsewhere.
Hopefully this video will help you decide if either of these cases are going to be suitable for your next project? If there are any points you want more information about, please let me know.
